I just read quickly and it could very well be a max size of 9 inches for a male.. all the different sites say a little something different
but i am sorry about the little one already eating one of your tetras..that means they may all become a meal eventually.. lots of luck with him ...looking forward to seeing him as he grows.

The other tetras are fast but the one he ate was enormous and fat wasn't all that fast. She always was the first to stuff her face until she was like a balloon. Oh and anyone know the growth rate of an Escondido. i just don't want the Jag to pass him and then beat him up when he is still small. My Mota is 6" and a slower grower so I am not worried about him much except his big teeth lol.
Growth depends on too many variables. Expect the "norm". They're not slow growers, but they're not the fastest.
