yepezi fo sheezi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am thrilled to see people putting an effort into breeding.

I have had a lot of motoro litters and I have sold most of the pups for about $150.

I have never even come close to turning a profit. Some months I may be able to cover the food bill.

I am in agreement with David, to do well, a breeding project has to be in a tropical location where the water and the heat are free. It would be very similar setup to the large scale discus breeders in Asia.

It is a great hobby and who doesn't want to offset their costs and put some great fish out there.

hahaha, well thanks for the advice. i am going to do this regardless and try to get some money because it's better than no money. not only that, IM GOING TO HAVE FUN DOING IT. which is the main reason im doing this. thanks for the comments though, and if you're lucky, i'll be selling you yepezi rays at the low price of $10000.... (and you guys didnt think id turn a profit, who's laughing now?)

Fun and conservation are the best reasons to try. Also it helps to think of the work and expense as therapy, I found that keeping rays and other fish were probably still cheaper than paying for a shrink and probably more effective for maintaining my sanity, such as it is
:)

i 100% agree. i actually enjoy waterchanges and cleaning the tank. the end result is ballzy looking and happy fish.

any updates? I got a """"yepezi""" now too. how big is yours? and mine is a male!

i'll get pics asap. mine is about 9" diameter now.

Is it male or female? mines a boy;)

My disk is around 7.5 inches or so... Hes getting big fast, AND HE IS ALWWWWAYS HUNGRY for more worms or bloodworms. This fish always pounces on my sucker thinking its a worm, but always lets him go without damaging it. Maybe the lil algae eater feels kind of like a worm?

it's a male and he is about 9" in diameter and eats everything. He eats canadian crawlers 3 times a week, hikari massavore pellets, silversides, shrimp, and he even comes to the surface to grab hikari carnivore pellets. the breeding project did not happen as I have yet to find a yepezi since I found him. he shares a tank with a 13" black aro, a 9" cichla mono, and 5 brycon. all are happy and living peacefully together in a 220gal tank which is filtered by two fluval fx5's and a wet/dry

DAMN! I was hoping u had a FEMALE! WHat size tank is yours in?

When u got this ray, was its tinger and tail clipped?? mine was... i wasnt happy about that, and iw asnt told before hand. But it grew back, and his tail is almost completely normal. needs to get about 1/4" left to be perfect.
