i just wanna say thanks to monster fishkeepers for giving me advice.i finnaly witnessed my mangrove eat a frozen pinkie mouse.he devoured it after i shook it infront of his face and then threw it across the tank.:headbang2

how many pinkies should i feed him at a time.im thinking about feeding him twice a week.

thats why we are here to help others and get advice when we need it.

Keep in mind, Mangroves are in fact fond of fish and insects, and don't always eat rodents regularly.

Did he show any interest in the minnows?

IMHO...the important thing now is to get him eating. Rodents are fatty for them in comparison to insects and fish, but if thats all he'll eat, its better than nothing. He should take more healthy prey once you get him acclimated and he fully settles in.

Yeah be sure not to get into the habit of just feeding him what's easy. There are probably better forums for your questions, just PM me.

If you want, we can train you how to breed your own buggies for the monitor -- and ask around on MFK how to breed minnows, convicts and livebearers.

Get a 29 gallon and breed convicts. It's so easy. Thats what I feed my big fish as a treat. By doing this you don't have to worry about diseases from feeder goldfish. I also breed Fathead minnows. But I do this outside in a pond. If you need any advice on this let me know.
