nice work.... i am considering doing this in my basement... how much to build?
after everything i think it comes close to maybe 400 dollars......probably wont do it again unless its like double or something. I am thinking, since i like the width of the aquarium, that when its time to upgrade, ill just cut the back off it and extend it another two feet or so and make it a 400 gallon. So I am trying not to think of it as a waste of money since it is easily modifiable.

Nice score kydsexy, I would rather not know how you got that so cheaply =). I do know however, that some universities will give you that kind of software for like 5 dollars if you buy through them. Let me know if you want me to send you the 3d model so you can play around with it.

Nice to see the water going in and it's great that there is no bowing or leaks for that matter. Great tank, a credit to the builder.

what are you gonna seal the screw holes in the plywood with?

hey will....I am not sure i completely understand your question.

What I did:
I built the box first with plywood and screws. Then, i covered the screw heads with bondo. Then i fiberglassed over everything. There are no uncovered crevices.... After that I gel coated everything that touches water. The only Thing that is exposed at this moment are the screws that hold the braces in. I want to silicone around the seam so that water will never touch those screws. Did I answer your question?

What I did not do:
I did not used liquid nails or any other such wood glue in my seams. At first I thought it may have been a mistake, since I used only like 6 screws in the vertical seams. After realizing that the fiberglass was so strong, I quickly discarded those concerns.

Hopefully that answers your question. ttyl.

i always glue the crap out of everything, i think the figures are something like a glued joint can hold 10 times more waight and sheer force then screws every 4-6" on a 36" joint...

it was on here a while ago, maybe a year on another plywood tank build. i usaly put a few screws in there anyway. but that doesnt realy mean a thing since you fiberglasses the whole thing which is twice as strong anyway...

esp. the way you did it...

Good job, looks good so far.
