Thanks ... I know he'll be just fine... Thanks for the advice.. I'll keep that in mind but right now I think I'll be waiting for him to settle in before deciding to try to change that part of his life... I don't think i can find frozen uncooked shrimp small enough for him right now LOL ... he's still just a midget... a few feeders will help that out though ;)

You can do what i did. I picked up a a small catfish who wouldn't eat and sulked all day in the corner. I usually dont except some fish to eat on the first day, but i figure i'd give it a shot. I thawed out a single frozen market shirmp, peeled it, then took the kitchen shears and cut a very tiny piece of from the tail meat. (small like a cm). Dropped two pieces in there with all the lights out near the corner... came back about 1 hour later, no more shirmp, and catfish w/ a big belly. lol. I find catfishes esp find it hard to resist smelly foods such as raw shrimp. :)

You can then put the remaining shrimp in a ziplock and put it in the fridge for the next day, etc. Then you will think back to this day, when your RTC chows down on a dozen shrimp and entire tilapia fillets for one meal, a few months from now. lol.

I do this also for some of my smaller catfish. If they are really small I feed them with bloodworms, and then once over 3" I start chopping shrimp or crushing freeze dried krill for them. Entire tilapia fillets? How about entire tilapia? lol. I've fed a 1.5 lbs tilapia whole to my hybrid.

All Great ideas guys ... thanks !!

I think he must have had a good feeding at the LFS though cause he's a) got the swollen belly(which has went down a bit today) and b) seems perfectly happy to lay still right now. I'm sure he'll take a bite out of someone when he's ready... I dropped a few shrimp pellets in there this morning and he kind of nosed it around abit then sucked one in and left the other 2 for the Comets to eat...So all is well so far...

On the Lighter side, I didn't tell my wife that I bought him (she never wants to hear about it :banher: :grinno:). So I have the feeders tank where the food goes... in the kitchen... makes sence right? :grinyes:

She goes out to get ready for work this morning then comes into the bedroom (Where I'm trying my best to get 5 more mins sleep :screwy: and she says "Hun... I think there is something wrong with one of your fish...It's turned a weird color and seems to have stuff stuck to it's face...and I swear to god... IT BLINKED at ME!!!" All I could muster was a ... "So... you've been looking at my fish huh???" She said some stuff that I can't really repeat here and then went to get some breakfast LOL... God I love that woman :D

Month or two max unless the pet store had it on a way reduced diet. I've seen pet stores around here feed tsn flake food, and they didn't grow any for months until I bought them.

Cool ... good to know ...When i was there they had "feeding time" and it was Flakes for everyone... regarless of which tank it was ... looked like some 12 yr old feeding the fish ...put the same amount in everytank regardless of how heavly they stocked it... some of those tanks had 1 fish in it and others had like 50...

Cool let's see some pics of this little bugger.

Kinda pointless to try... he's been hiding in a jar I put in the tank for him....all I ever see is a whisker... still hasn't taken a feeder yet either so I think I'm gonna take them out and put in some pieces of shrimp for him this afternoon...I'm starting to think that it's all the motion in the tank from the Feeders that's making him uneasy but I don't want to put him in the 50 yet as I don't want to loss any chilids to him being sick or deciding that they look tasty and he'll just try a piece of tail

He came out to explore in the dark for a few mins... seems to have mapped out his location in the tank and then went back into hiding...

I'm trying to be as accomodating as possible but he's really starting to be a bad guest, don't you hate it when your guests won't eat the food you offer them? LOL
