I was at the LFS today trading in some fish. The owner tried to sell me a Silver. I said I'd love to have one, but it will outgrow my 125. She said if you don't feed feeders, the arowana will not outgrow a 125:ROFL:.

It is our job as aquarium hobbyists to filter the sales bull from common sense.

Think about it if your fish can't even turn around comfortably, is it happy?

If somone made you wear tiny restrictive shoes all of your life so your feet would be stunted...would you be happy?

As much as we would love to believe anything that supports our desire to do whatever we want to do. We still have to use common sense to weed out the bull sales pitch from all we know to be true and real

So was this Golden fish aquarium or S. Broadway Tropicals?

Perhaps, LFS figured that you will not succeed to grow him out ... anything for money <sigh>

what are the diamentions? is it a 6 foot long...also how big is the fish? Anyhow, you could house it for a few years in a 125 as long as its a 6 foot long and also depends on what you feed your aro and you would definately need a GREAT filtration system....WD or a fluval 405 mixed with over the back filtration or power heads.....or a fluval fx5.....like you said though not for life....but definately for a few years....realalisticly.;)

my 2 silvers outgrew my 120gallon in 5 months and i feed feeders maybe once a month.

they went from 4" to 20" in 5-6 months

Golden Fish.

She just likes to make as much $$ as she can. I told her I wanted an Ornate (she has a new batch in). She said that I should buy a group of Ornates because if I got just one, it will hide and be a boring fish :grinno:

Sure we would all love to be able to afford a giant set up....plenty of us do...I personally only have a 180g 6x2x2 but I gotta work with what I got right now. Most of the MFKers here are wanting these nice set ups.......plenty do have them as well....just saying I seen worse due to space and money....Just look at the tanks they have, let alone the com tanks they have in Japan.....filtration is a key element.....space is a luxury....I personally will eventually get a 8x3x3 but it is an investment that most of these people dont have. Americans arer spoiled....I love it.......just look at the tank the rich Japanese guy who bought that platnum silver arowana for a million dollars,.....sits in a super small tank. Heres a snap of a silver I saw in a pichinco parlor in Japan.....its a 55g. Also a large asian arowana housed for life in a 6x2x2.
