Thanks.....personally everyone wants to be a good samaritan, but at the same time there is a real world where not everyone has a suitable environment for these large fish. I'm not saying its right, just saying if you do own one of these smaller setups, you definately need to do more water changes and get some fantastic filtration......plus some serious thinking about upgrading both for your sake, along with the sake of your fish....in the end you would end up doing both of you a great favor.FishGoneWild;2231745; said:Interesting thread. I cannot agree more with Mr E. I see people keep arros in small tanks all the time. That doesn't mean it's right but I see it happen all the time. As long as arros are being sold at fish store people will continue to put them in tiny tanks.

I was just saying that most people I run into on this sight either has a large set up and has insightful knowledge to share with us all...also some just want these set ups and argue the fact instead of helping share good info.......I personally want an environment suitable for what I think my fish needs....which is space, excellent filtration and water changes with a varied diet........just saying.....not all of us really have them. I was just trying to help those who dont....realistically it cost a lot more money when you get a bigger tank. thats all....I never said a 125g would last a lifetime.....but it would work for a while. I mean everyone wants to say a 55 gallon is too small for a 6 inch arowana on this sight....I personally think that the tank shouls be 3 times the length of the fish and have enough room to turn around comfortably.![]()
I actually got a fluval 405 on both ends currently, with the UG pointed in a way that the water circulates for goo water agitation but not a strong current. A 6 foot lenth is 3 times the length of my 2 foot aro.....9 foot tank would be nice though. 8x3x3 with a sump and 180g WD is what I eventually want......plenty of bio ball and all that goodness. I am on the big island....very hard to come by stuff here....only 2 LFS and they are located on oppsite sides of the island....a fluval 405 cost $400 here...I got mine on e-bay for $140 and another for $100. I did consider getting an FX5 but am in the middle of buying a tattoo shop and am planning on a few more trips this year....not as long as my Japan trip though.PM me about the fluval FX5....it's a great system, maybe at the right price? Anyhow, that would be a luxury right now till I get my priorities together. Thanks.Datnoid101;2231976; said:Just curious, what island do you live on? Unless your on molokai, I would recommend ditching the UG filter and picking up a wet/dry or cannister. Your fish will be much healthier and removing the gravel will ensure better water quality and allowing waste to be removed easier. Also make sure that the silver dosent get freaked out and hook his eye on that driftwood. I've seen it a million times in pet stores. If you wanna buy a fx5 let me know. I got 3 extra laying around unopened. I can ship it to you.
