I think it's only to a certain point. Try moving the light little by little over a few days.

It's just a sorta lame trick. Nothing I would suggest trying to use to impress a hot chick with. For that I would suggest the pulling your thumb off trick.

When fish are put into a sudden current they will also swim against it.

Also cats will land on their feet if dropped on their back 4" or higher. Anything lower they land on their back, struggle to roll onto their stomach, run into a hallway and lick their paws for 3-7 seeconds before looking back at you as if to say "your an ass"

lmao

This reminds me of an experiment done with shrimp. Salt water shrimp place a grain of sand in a groove on the top of their heads to balance and tell which way is up. This group of scientists replaced the grain of sand with a "grain" of magnetic "sand" and moved a magnet around the tank, the swam according to where the magnet was placed.

If you drop your light bar into the tank, you can make your fish swim upside down. Has nothing to do with lighting, but electric shock. Had this happen once in college.

See I've had heaters and pumps short in water and fish did fine. Didn't even know until I did a vacume and... well I just kept sticking my hand in the water. About the 8th or 9th time I discoved I didn't like the feeling and if I kept putting my hand in the tank it would keep hurting me. So around the 15th time I stopped and pulled out the cord. I'll get some pictures of my fish doing it. I don't use any of that "artificial" lighting. I use a single glass pain window background. I like to give them the full -20^f experience of the Pacific Northwest!

Pretty sure a fish swims upright using it's swimbladder mixed with electrical sensations in it's lateral line. Could be wrong though. I've had a similar expirience with a broken heater before though. Made me walk sideways after the 350 w shock of sticking my hand in the tank and being like wow, that's a weird spasm. Do it again wow, it's not me it's the tank. Go get friend. Hey I can't reach that rock can you get it for me? He does the same thing twice lol, proceeds to chase me around the house in anger.

the light thing might be true but if your tank isnt level from left to right or front to back and vice versa your fish will swim to what is true level.

so at night with the light off, what way are they swimming?
My fish will sometimes, but rarely, swim at 60 degree angels. Particualy the angels and tetras. Flat body thing?
