Listen, I am here for 60-100 short years, 26 of which are already gone. Bacon is flipping delicious. Steaks and ribs, amazing. Chicken wings? Good luck getting me off that. YOLO, and besides that, people seem to give the planet too little credit to control itself. If that means mass extinction, so be it, but I do not believe human forces short of nuclear technology can destroy the planet. People on the planet, absolutely.

What I would like to contribute to this thread is that since GMO, there has been a 400% increase in auto-immune diseases. Processed food and sugar is the killer here, I firmly believe that. Sugar, found in everything, rots away everything and throws a whole lot of stuff off balance and creates a type of dependency. As for GMO/processed... look how much cancer there i lately. Look outside to the houses around you, how many have a microwave? You don't think that alters your bodies cell composition in any way? Look at the sea of cars in your nearest parking lot or down the block, you don't think inhaling all that burnt gas is going to impact your health negatively in anyway? All this said: I have have microwave and use it, I have a car and use it, I eat processed food because sometimes there is little choice. It's just the way of the world right now, if i spend all my life fighting it i will miss out on a ton of great experiences. I'm all for persevering the planet, but i personally believe the planet is a lot more conscious and strong then others will have you believe. Species go extinct or change through evolution, but then there i some sort of compensation. You think if all the world's oil disappeared tomorrow people wouldn't figure out something else? Adapt improvise and overcome, do what make you feel good, tell people nicely about your personal beliefs, and have some fun while we are here.
there is no fun, only zule.

I'm not angry, like he said, its a debate. Now firstly, there are too many hypotheticals in here, that's not what in here for. What I'm trying to do is make people aware that it's not cars, oil or overpopulation that is the number one issue facing us, its mass produced animals. So what I am trying to do is shine alittle truth about not just where your meat and dairy comes from, its bad enough and tbh you probably already know how bad it is, cause like predator said, he doesn't want processed meat, but also the impact it is having on the earth. All it takes is a change, and In my opinion, its well worth it.

I agree where it is coming from is not ideal, probably far worse than, but personally it is better than the alternative of giving it up for me. I would rather eat the worse quality animal then not at all personally. Just works with me, you are absolutely right that it would be nice to change it for sure, but not at a cost of a lifestyle that really wouldn't make me happy. I'm going to die anyway, my kids will die one day anyway, if it means it knocks even 10 years off my life well whatever, don't want to be old and frail anyway.

Well...I enjoyed eating my three meat pizza while reading this thread.

Ask any doctor, dietician or nutrients specialist, they'll all tell you you can eat a vegan diet and suffer no I'll health effects, and you would be benefiting yourself.

Excuse me... I've been seeing a dietitian for over 2 1/2 years and she has always pushed me to eat more red meat and eggs. Never....never... once has she ever mentioned that I need to eat vegetables.

Ya I actually didn't notice that post. I know plenty of dieticians and doctors that would tell you an all veggie/fruit diet isn't ideal.

I kept waiting for you guys to blow the whistle on that post. my problem with vegan diets is the fear mongering and scare tactics used by supporters.

How long has the original poster been vegan? vegan diets seem to start off great (usually because of the lifestyle change AND not eating processed food) and then flatline in the long term as they're not getting enough crucial nutritions without supplements. we need a balanced diet that includes both meat and plants.

Vegetarian for 9 years vegan for a couple months, and fit and healthy. And you can talk all day long about scare tactics, but the meat and dairy industry tiptoes around the truth to sell a product you don't need, and in the case of cows milk, is highly addictive.
Why did you wait? Could you not form a sentence as to why I'm wrong?
It comes down to the fact that there nothing in meat or dairy that your body requires that you cant get from a vegan diet.

fuzzy, you have some good points but you're gonna lose people with things like "cow milk is addictive"

I did see the cowspiracy docu and it was interesting

I hate milk. So I don't drink it. The fact that it may be bad for you and I don't drink it is just a bonus. If it were as delicious as chicken wings I sure as hell would be drinking it. I know a guy on here Dieselhybrid Dieselhybrid who I believe was vegan or close to it that was quite ripped and athletic who was getting all he needed from his particular diet, can't remember if this was by choice or otherwise. Anyway in his case he had the knowledge, resources, and most importantly willpower for this to be successful for HIS lifestyle. That would never work for my lifestyle for various reasons, but even if I could somehow fit it in I simply don't have the willpower to do it, so why would I? I love food, 1 diet says avoid fat another says eat pure animal fat, one says load up on carbs the other says avoid it like the plague, recently there has been a difference discovered in calories namely that there are good calories and bad calories. Give it a month someone else will come out with something new.

I saw a picture of a US Olympic swimmer and what he eats before an 8 hours practice. 10 000 calories. I couldn't fit what he had on his plate in my stomach if I had all day. 2 full pans full of chicken breasts, 2-3 pans of potatoes, bunch of greens etc. But it was a GIANT meal, and I think the caption eluded to the fact that he eats it before every practice. Why? Because obviously to build the muscle he needs to consume more calories then he burns, which is hard to do when you swim for 8 hours. Me? I burn a lot in a day but I could stand to lose about 10-15 lbs so for me portion control would do me a lot of better and a bit lower calorie intake. This is what my research has told me will work for me. Is my research wrong? Could be. Is it wrong because stuff found on the internet is useless or is it because no one knows the real answer yet? Idk.

I guess what I am trying to say is that based on the individual, I don't think every single human being could survive off a vegan diet. Some have iron or other deficiencies that would make it impossible. Some people have allergies that may cut an already limited menu in half. Some just hate the taste of wheat grass. I just can't help but feel there is an agenda here, if it works for you we are all happy for you as long as you are truly happy. Now, can you be happy that after a 10 hour shift I am going home to heat up leftover meat lovers pizza from the night before when I was drinking rather heavily and rushing out the door 10 minutes later to play in a soccer tournament that will last till (hopefully) midnight tonight? You're not in my shoes, why do you care, to save the planet? Planet is crap already and fine at the same time, I'm a product of my environment, do you really think eating Vegan will stop ISIS from beheading people or Kim Jung Un from going nuts and trying to nuke someone?
