IN YOUR HEAD
well it is official i am pissed off!!!! went to give my tigerfish there daily pellets and found one of them with a huge hole tore out of its belly and a cunk missing from its spine. now i am left to wonder. do i sell one and keep one or do i just say f it and sell them both? i have always wanted tigerfish, but this is enough to put me off them for a very very long time! i will post some pics of the carnage it is in a net doing the false hope to life for a desperate fish keeper death breathing. it makes this fish even more badass, but a "insert choice banable word here" at the same time.

i wonder about the sale because i don't know if this is a start to the kill everything phase or just the kill all tigerfish phase. i cant have a tank for one fish, but i don't know if i want to risk it. i have lost way way to much money this year on fish not to mention the fish themselves.

:irked::swear::cry:

Tiger fish really need to be kept alone assuming these are goliaths. It will always happen sooner or later. I would try to nurse the hurt one back to health maybe separate the tank or put him in a hospital tank. Then sell it when it recovers. Keep the non hurt one for your sake.

these are gatf, i knew it was a risk, but they were doing so well. no real aggression toward each other. just mock lunges to keep there space. the hurt one from before was injured by gar that got around a divider.

i have 2 that are fine right now, the attacked one was attacked before and i nursed it back, but it has a broke spine and is a dead fish with nerve twitches. i put it in a net to keep it safe, but it was already to late.

i may see if a guy by me wants to trade for his vatf he wants to sell. my gatf are on pellets and his vatf is not. maybe he will go for it. not sure on a good price for them though.

Hello... where you stay at or should I say where does he stay at Lol?? I NEED VATF in my life haha.

Sucks to hear about the Goliaths. Hope he pulls through for you and I would divide the tank or seperate them asap. Does no sound good aggression-wise.

pm'd

that one is dead. i will get pics before i feed it to my gars....the circle of life....

i just have gars every were and juvi fronts in the other african tank. gars and shinny fish not so good for the shinny fish. the only other tank i can think of is a 75gal that is to cold with a 20"+ american eel in it. all my dividers have become the top to the eel tank.

Oh... *hugs* That sucks bad...I'm so sorry for your loss! Hope whatever you decide works out! Keep me posted and let me know if there's any way I can help!

On a side note, good job restraining yourself! I think you're getting better about that...

sucks man, its the nature of the beast though... Mine nip and chase now only, but they are all 10+ inches... when they were younger the beating's were more severe, turn on the lights in the morning and find mysterious aggressive wounds on them, and they loved to go after the eyes, very upsetting... i lost 2 GATF's due to fighting, resulting in eye injuries, then slower growth rate so others outpaced, then death, but they didnt die from massive wounds, just the stress of constant beatings. Luckily i have 3 now and 1 VATF living in harmony... i think the addition of other fish, keeping a stocked tank, helps the territorial, and thus aggressive fighting between them. Sorry for the loss man, and i know how it feels...

I wonder why people always think they can create an exception to the rule then be upset when it doesn't work out? For monster fish, give what the fish need or be prepared that the fish will create the space they need.

no man, every situation is different... you obviously have not kept these fish before, it is their nature to nip and chase, and i dont feel has anything to do with tank size, although many of you think this. Do these fish need a large tank as they grow, yes, and a mega tank to reach max size, yes, but this is not the problem here .... just so you know ... in fact i bet if they were in a smaller tank or their current tank was more crowded with more fish, this may not have happenned, so try not to kick a man while he's down, that seems more respectful to me

It doesn't take an expert to tell you what will eventually happen if you put a group of nonshoalling apex predators in a tank. You said that it is their nature to nip and chase...one wonders what nipping means with weapons a tiger fish possesses.
