Oh isn't that convenient...lol, jk.
Did you reorganize your living room again or is that an old pic?
i didnt reread the whole thread before posting. so ya i did all on my own then i saw your post. this was taken just before i reorganized my living room, not by choice i might add.
Nice setup. The stand looks really nice. Cute kid too, BTW.
Not sure if everyone on here has already seen this, but here's a piece that Animal Planet did on JohnPTC's 10,000G tank:
http://animal.discovery.com/tv-show...eos/most-outrageous-largest-home-aquarium.htm
Construction cost of the tank: $100,000
Monthly costs: $2,000
John spends $24,000 per year just to run/maintain this setup. I personally think he "accidentally" underestimated the monthly cost to run the tank...maybe because his wife was present during filming?Anyways, this is why I am skeptical when I see people growing these monster fish out with the idea of upgrading when the time comes. To do it right costs a lot of money.
I am posting this information not to insinuate anything, but to share what one should expect to spend on a 10,000G tank.
thanks.
i am going to do a different kind of heating that should bring the costs down and like arapimags i will have a well for the tank/ponds. i will be doing several things differently, i think electric an water are the most expense and i will be doing several things to bring that cost down. i will have alot of hydroponics(like all my tanks now). this cuts down on a lot of cost of filtration. i am going to try a different form of heating as well. i have 2 main ideas kicking around and i may do one on a smaller scale to test first, but i think it will be astronomically cheaper then the standard pond heat methods. i didn't see that vid yet, thanks for posting it.
for example, johns tank is in his garage, it is all cement, not very insulated. my set up will be indoors, very insulated have an ambient temp of 70-75f so bring it to 80f will not be that hard, thats if i want it there i may just have it at 75f like the ambient temp. it will still be heated, but doing it that way if great for the fish and cheaper for me. thats one of the ways i am going to bring down costs.
Anyways, this is why I am skeptical when I see people growing these monster fish out with the idea of upgrading when the time comes. To do it right costs a lot of money.
