Is that what I said? What do you actually know about a GATF to come to such conclusions? Without the one who does the same thing over and over and expecting different result, there would be no result to offer to the one who does nothing but just looking for information. "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." It's just a hobby, meant to be enjoy. There's no need to feel insecure....
I know they grow too large and require much more space than 99.9% of the people buying them are able to provide. But if you are wondering if I've ever killed, errr, kept one, no I have not. I know that you have. Bravo.
you see this is the problem with people. you feel that these fish belong in public aquaria. i agree that the average 15 year old on this site cant handel any of these fish. i am not your average 15 year old i have been keeping fish longer then they have been alive. look through 100% of my threads have i ever had a pima? no. i know they grow faster then i have space for currently. more math for everyone. gatf grow stupid slow, though i had larger growth then most. there is a 6year old "2 foot" gatf on here. how long would that take to get a 4' fish? i CAN house 3 2' fish right now in fact i have several. even if you try to dig up my big cat threads and throw them in my face. when i got them i lived in a house, planned on a stock tank in the basement for them. brotherinlaw lost the house so i couldnt do that. so what did i do? oh ya i found them each a 600 gal + to go into. i know how much it take to heat a large body of water. why do you assume these ponds will be outside or in a cement garage? my pima pond will be in a set up simmilar to arapimags. and i will have an addition i build on my house that i build. just because some people dont know how to do it doesnt mean everyone cant. i will be costly, but you dont know a thing about me yet you try to judge me and bring up judgement. now who is being a child? think about the few that can do it then, add my name to that list. if i remember right johnptc built his big tank after he got the fish, sound familiar? his tank is also in a shop if i remember right and there is not much insulation. cali is not 80f all year long. a properly insulated water tight room, with an ambiant temp of 80f will not need much to heat that water if at all. i will have olypic pool heaters on my pond, but that is because i have not done research right? think what you want but in the end i will have my fish and you will see them in the pond that will be prebuilt and then i want you to come to it and post in it that i am a fool for going the distance and pushing the boundry of modern fish keeping. outside of this site there people that have never even seen a 125gal and think it is huge. you just sound retarted when you say a 700gal+ is not big enough for an aro. unless the tank is long, tall and 2' wide.

Looking forward to seeing pix of this monster setup. Sounds like it's going to be nice. Once it's built, as long as it's at least 10,000 gallons, has proper filtration and proper heating, I will buy you an Arapaima to put in it. No joke- you have my word.
So are we goin 50/50 on the 80 up north? lol, what would Mike and Lorena say?
