You ever just have one of those days?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I guess I don't think of it that way. I'm too young to be kicked out.
As soon as you turn 18 you can be evicted without a moments notice. In some states you can kick out a minor with emancipation.

They don't though. My stepfather has his own tanks and my mother loves aquariums too....they just don't know sh*t.

Step father is one of those old school guys that thinks anything with cichlid can go together and anything 'tropical' can go together. His stocking for his 25 hexagon and 55 are horrendous. He doesn't even clean his tanks, I do! He hasn't done not one water change in over a year.

My mother knows the basics....I think. Sometimes she knows what she's talking. Most of the time she definitely doesn't.

I'm the fish guy/aquarium nut/etc and they still always question what I say. We'd have a 3 foot red tail catfish in the 55 in the living room by now if I didn't advise my step dad against it.

"But it'll only grow to the size of the tank"

No. No it won't.
What's your father's stock list? What size tank are the surviving fish in?

55 with I believe over 20 convicts, 6 Cory cats, 2 common plecos and a Sun catfish. Soon the other 10 convicts, 2 Jack dempseys, 2 African Peacock cichlids and another common pleco will be added from the Octagon tank.

He wants to mix Africans Cichlids with American Cichlids?

Lmao. How do you think I feel? Yet she says nothing to him about his stock, but always says something about mines when I'm always trying to upgrade or give away stuff.

All you young'uns out there just remember one thing. Some day the shoe will be on the other foot and your kids will think you are as clueless as you think your parents are today.

Hell, I may actually listen, as much as I hate to say that.

lol I remember being in this position, when I wanted loads of massive tanks in my parents house. Eventually I had a 52g and a 20g in my room, which in hindsight I'd cringe at now as the potential for leakage etc isn't worth thinking about when you live under someone else's roof.

I have only one bit of advice to give you, which you may not like. It's learn to live with what you have aquarium wise, and save the bigger plans until you move out.
