I use the aquen changer similar to the python, with the plastic tube it's useless for vacuuming. I discovered the longer the tube the less it can pick up. Using the hose without the tube seems to work better, but you pick up sand too. How are you starting the siphon off a 50 ft hose ? I can never get any siphon without it connected to the faucet and running water, unless I'm using the regular hose that doesn't connect to faucet which is only a few feet. Are you sucking the other end because I think that's disgusting.

call it a low blow, but if you can't start or will not bring yourself to starting a syphon by sucking on a garden hose. ...???!!!!!???... i guess i am just a little old school...

The hose runs out the front door down a bunch of stairs out to the flower bed. My python is also made from the biggest aqueon vacuum. I turn the vacuum upside down under water to fill it then go outside and give one hard pull on the hose. Once the water clears the edge of the tank gravity does the rest. After im done cleaning the gravel im at about 50% give it another 10% or so then drag the hose to the kitchen where i attach it to the sink and refill. My adapter for the sink could let me use water to start the vac and flush the dirty water right down the drain. But i figure why waste free fertilizer?

if you have a slop sink by washer and dryer they usually have a threaded connection it will fit. i made my own and have to use 100' of hose run from basememt to the upstairs. works very well. the gravity of it being on a lower level helps alot too. got the spool of hose from local hardware store, used waterbed connector, and ordered just the python tube itself
