You like painted on back grounds ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are the solid ones.

I like the metallic ones , especially for the redempress. It goes with their metalic scales. I also noticed that they are cleaner looking and dont show smudges or smears etc..

Here is a side by side:

looks more better with 3d back...i think!!!

Thats a nice background. Where did you get it. Is it 3 d pic or really 3 d DIY kit. If so i dont think i have the building skills to pull off something like that. I have seen the styrofoam concrete ones before . Is that like what you have ? Interesting bonsai tree though LOL

it's for the terrarium's, but i used it for the fronts, i bought it from my lfs for $12. you can diy with Styrofoam. it is really nice when it's complete.

I would go with the bluish backround and no metallic add-ons. I have black sand and a bluish fading backround i bought from petsmart and it really brings out the color in my fish. Also, if you are goin to plant your tank the colors in the plants really bring out the black sand and make it awesome looking. I will post a picture of my tank so you can see what im talking about.

better look, no tape on background here.

sorry to burst your bubble:banhim::cry:

i hope you realise those backgrounds leech chemicals and dissolve over time i hope your dont have expensive fish in there:cry:

i have seen them tested but dont have a internet source. as in tested by a mate and the fish died.

I've done the paint thing in the past. It's a huge pain, particularly with a tank already set up or in place. Go buy a black background and use that. Don't like any tape on the sides? If you trim it just right you can slide the top and bottom of the background between the glass and the frame and not use any tape.

Unless you are going 3D just keep it simple. Do you want to draw the eye to the background or to the fish?

I have a plastic background and hate it LOL. It gets water marks behind the glass between the glass and plastic (dont ask me how it gets there) Then with the dark background it really shows up and looks like crap . I think i am just going to paint it black with a roller. I can do it, painted 4600 sq feet of 12 foot ceilings so the tank should not prove too difficult compared to that (I hope). I think im gonna paint all my tanks backgrounds, Im gonna do the two six foot tanks black and when i get a new 30 and 10 i think i will try the fancier metallic highlights with those tanks. I will post pics when the sand and tank gets here. The sand guy sent me the wrong color sand by accident (I didnt even know it LOL) he emailed me and said to keep what he sent and that the pure black in a finer grit was being shipped today . At least 50 pounds of free light/medium black sand all ready arrived today. I can use it in my other tank i think. I wonder if more of the wrong sand is still on the way or not.

never painted mine black, I wouldnt want to b/c it I ever want to change it, it would be a pain to take off. I like vinyl, we used it on my bf's 180gal and it looks wonderfull =]
