your dream tank

My dream tank would be... a 500 gallon freshwater tank in my living room that has so many plants and crystal clear water... aslo that would have Fogo Pbass , or a bunch of discus all types or just a tank with plants/ wood above the water for archer fish!

A planted discuss tank rought 4x2x5 so that it is taller than it is wide all kinds of plants stocked with all kinds of wild discus angels, and tetras, maybe throw in some zebra plecos or other rare pleco with some color and alot of neon tetras. Huge diy filtration, and lighting systems and maybe some kind of terarirum with branches and stuff for crickets cause butterflies are an amaizing fish. But Id pry get bored with the tank after I had it for a while and start thinkin up a new one

my dream tank(s) would be 2x1000 and 2x2000 gals. one 1000 would be central am. planted, other would be amazon (dry season) planted, one 2000 would be amazon flouded forest, and the last 2000 would be african. one day....

When we build our new house, I plan on setting up my dream tank after many years of waiting. It will be in wall. 12'x 37 1/2"x 3' tall. About 800 gals. 3/4" glass, on a steel stand, setting on a concrete floor. Then, I can put all my fish in one tank instead of many all over the house.

Well after I win the lottery I plan on cementing a section of my basement and slapping a big piece of glass in the cement. The tank will be about 20,000 to 30,000 gallons. I plan to house 1 or 2 wobegon sharks, some larger eels, and possibly a white tip. I'm banking on the lottery thing happening.

Within 2 years, I am planning on purchasing a 10x4x3, approx. 900 gallons, to give my aro, monos, azuls and dats the room they need to stretch out in. Then I can turn my 200 into the ultimate planted tank for rainbows and get my wife off my back.

I want a 10'x4'x3' With 2 black arows, 2 wild silvers, A school of Azuls for the mid range, a school of clown loaches, and some rays for the bottom.

Here is a quote of my dream tank thread, I have many other dream tanks, all almost within reach, I just need a new house...

Okay; so I have been planning a DIY venture between myself & a buddy who works at an acrylic fabrication shop.

This is a footprint & approximate measures of the tank. This will be just under 1,100 gals

I hope that someone might have some views on the proposed filtration locations as well as powerhead locations for the elimination of dead spots.

Plans are to also have a waterfall return in the back (green) corner.

My thought is to have overflows in the (red) corners with wet/dry underneath, with the plumbing through the bottom so nothing is visible. The overflows will be sealed so the overflow area can be empty, while the tank is full, for maintenance & to keep the floor from ending up with 1000 plus gal on it incase of filter system failure.

I intend to have a continuous drip water change hidden in the waterfall return. I am not yet sure of the rate, I will need to tweak this as the tank grows & bioload is determined.

One side will be against a wall & the other will create a mock hall in the room, everyone entering will need to pass by the tanks backside to enter the room.

This project will not even start until I get a new house & build or retrofit a room for it, perhaps a garage since there is NO way it will fit through an entry door.

I currently have no idea what fish will be in this tank, but when it becomes a reality, there will be a new thread for that.

alright, my monster tank... eventually will be within reach after a couple of raises seeing as how i just graduated from college:-P

anyway, i have it planned to be a round tank, ~32 feet in circumference, and ~10 feet in diameter, and 4 feet tall. planning on using 4 sheets of 8'x4' acrylic for the walls, a welded steel frame so i dont necessarily need a top, and stuck onto a fiberglass-epoxied plywood bottom.

totals ~2400 gallons.

although i haven't figured out exactly how thick the acrylic needs to be if it's supported by a steel frame. any ideas?
