I caught it after about 1 gallon had leaked out, it was a slow drip leak. Drained it and put everything I had into a 37 until I could bring them to my LFS.

You couldnt re-seal the tank? I had that happen wtih my 55gal it busted open at the seals in the townhouse we rented, not a pleasent call to have to make, but we dried out the carpet, re-sealed the tank and it was good to go.

At the time, I was living at home. Because of this, the parents didn't care if I re-sealed it. They didn't want to risk the leak again, so until I moved out I was downsized to a 55 (That is older than I am - made in 1983) that I still have.

My first was a 6' 135gal. I worked it off at a pet store. Learned a lot and got a nice tank with sump. Through my learnings....I flooded my parents basement twice, learned how to replace floor trim and sheetrock!. I had 3 oscars and 3 severums in it with a 65gal sump.

ooooh yeah that makes sense and that is crazy that the tank is that old!

I first with a 20 hex then got a 20 tall. Next was a 29 then 40 breeder then 2x 55s now I got a 95 and 210 . I was like a little on Xmas when I got both tanks.

My first big tank was also built before I was born, in 1970. It is made of 1/2" glass with no center braces.
