i was walking home from a multicultural conference at an elementary school and saw one of the stop kony posters on the stop sign on the way out. i lol'd
Let me inquire. In the video he sights that indeed kony did leave uganda as you have sighted. All you guys say is kony left uganda war over. The movie is about arresting kony for child prostitution, mutilation, slavery etc. Would you say its not a good cause? The video doesn't ask for money per say though I'm sure people will donate because of it. Its aim is generating awareness to create pressure and bring in the criminal. Is there something immoral in this? I haven't put any money down on this by any means and I don't plan to but I do think the cause is just and it seems really popular to attack the video and say this guy profits from making this stuff. I wouldn't argue that but i would also say without allot of his work people wouldn't even know that kony ever existed. Profit or not you seem to feed into the who cares it doesn't effect us mind set that allowed him relative immunity for so long.
I don't mean any of this to be disrespectful, I just must be missing something.
That's really why I posted, hoping to hear some insight on the criticism. So far I've learned nothing. Btw we sent troops in support after the video came out
Right? I literally saw at least 8 on my way home from Petsmart. The closer I got to downtown the more popped up. Noticed a bunch on the way to Lane Community as well.
They were talking about this on public radio a couple weeks ago. They interviewed some of Kony's victims and they were pretty upset about the video. They felt that the video makes the guy famous, which is exactly what he wants. I can't remember all the details and I haven't watched the video, but they had a lot of other issues with the video. From what they said, the video was not well received in Uganda.
