The suspense of getting the tank must be KILLING you! You can still growout a channel to about a foot in there... Or get a pond...

I have heard that channels grow to fast so I doubt I could keep one in a 75 gallon for to long without stunting it. Or an Achara.

my sister had an albino channel cat she bought around 2 or 3 inches long. put him in her 30 gallon where he grew pretty big and ate everything else in the tank. he got to be about a foot long before she took him out and put him in her backyard pond. after about 4 years, he has grown to about 2 feet long and doesn't seem to be getting any bigger.

Mine is in a 20 gallonlong community with tetras and stuff and he has grown about half an inch in about 2 months.. So, yes pretty quick growth! But he doesnt really mess with anything- not even tetras but that may chsnge... And acharas require MASSIVE tank die to their whiskers being so long... You can not let their whiskers touch all sides of the tank or they will be SUPER stressed!

how long do you figure a channel could last in a 75 gallon with a couple cichlids some danios and two or three other cats. As much as I want one I am only willing to alter my stocking so much.

Well it may eat the danios... And If I was you I would probably make a thread called "how long can I keepa channel in a 75 gallon" so that you can get everyones opinions... Vut I would say AT LEAST 6-8 months... Maybe closer to a year... I have not grown a channel for a long time yet (mine is on month 2...)

Well I can't upgrade for a minimum of one and a half years and I get to attached to my fish to sell them unless extremely necessary and in those cases I just don't buy the fish.
