I agree, I hate it when people play god and try cichlid crosses only to end up with ugly abominations. Only to sell them to a store and make them someone else's problem.
One of the reasons I detest hybrids so much is because of the Amphilophus labiatus and Amphilophus citrinellus hybrids are so common. If you go to any pet store and buy a red devil (Amphilophus labiatus) or a midas (Amphilophus citrinellus) your most likely purchasing a hybrid of the two. The only way you can get a genuine red devil or midas is to buy from a quality breeder now a days.
