That ploy has been going on for years now, and people have begun to catch on, so these high priced knock offs often sit for long times, without any buyers.

Unfortunately this is the case. I'm sure every striped Hypancistrus has been labelled as a zebra at some point... and even species in different genus lol.

Harty - I see you are from Canada - here is an add from a Burlington fish store selling zebra plecos. I saw them - very nice.

Not bad sizes... sounds pricey though if you get a mixture of adults and not so adults. Guess it's where you are.

IVE JUST BOUGHT ONE TODAY!!! first one ive seen in msia. i saw one in john PTCs tank that was HUGGEEE...mine costs like 175 rinngit msia...which is considered pretty expensive compared to other fish. 6 inches

There was a group for sale at the ACA going for 500 each. A pair got auctioned off for 250 each.
