Zebrina group on the way

I love the direction the conversation has shifted to here. A few other guys have a wealth of info. They specialize across all new world cichlids so they are on the forums a lot. Freebyrd and Ryansmith come to mind. They helped me out a lot when I fell into the crenicichla wormhole last year.

For me, I think the biggest issue with the broader cichlid community is the misperceptions floating out there about pike cichlid aggression. Most people are scared away before they even start since Google will tell you that they are not fish to be kept in communities and they exaggerate their demeanor and care requirements. When I kept my lents with angelfish, everyone was shocked.

A Mythbusters stickies I think would go far.

Let me know how I can help

This would be a great ideal I was looking for info on pikes and all I could find about them was they are mean so I ended up giving it away now after reading this I wish I kept it

You should of kep it. It's best to start by asking the ID of the pike since most come mislabelled Which is another issue in and of itself. Once identified, we can give you a good idea of its characteristics. You should get some more.

I'll get more he was cool to watch. I have been stalking this page ever since I got rid of him

Lmao yes he sat like that for 20 min looking all cross eyed. I think pikes will be my next research project after seeing the op pikes. They are very nice looking.

Yeah I thought the massivire pellet on his head was pic of the month for me lol. And trust me I collected rare cichlids ,piranhas, had rare Africans , had lacerdae and aimara, had atfs etc... But crenicichlas take the cake. The personality and the little info on these fish are a reason why I'm back in this hobby at full speed 😉

okay I want to let everybody know how my 4 zebrina are doing. at first all of them were getting along but it seems that things have changed. I know I have one crazy male that in a 265gal does not want any other zebrina to be near him or comfortable in the tank. He charges at them and forces them to swim up to the corner and top of the tank. When he is not doing any flaring at them , there seems to be another zebrina who bullies the other two while the most dominate zebrina takes a rest. I know the most dominant zebrina is a male no doubt, however I'm not sure about the others. Since The dominant zebrina isn't hurting the other fish I will leave him however I am today going to purchase 5-6 geo's or severums to see if that can break up the conspecific aggression. I figured that if I have for I highly doubt they are all males, from my experience of getting groups of cichlids in the past.

My male is aggresive to my female as well and keeps her in a corner hiding behind some plants. I have 3 cichla orinocensis and a hoplarchus psitticas is with them to diffuse aggression but most of the aggression is conspecific.

Hopefully the geos or sevs work. I took my group of geo winemilleri to Captain nemos. They may still have them. The sa cichlids at hidden reef were sick last time I went. Fish factory may have something for you too.

Good luck.
