The larger of the two without the bars/spots...they will flare and the coloration will get lighter and darker, although the female never looses the bars/spots...

I should have said, relatively peaceful, compared to a tank of Aros Cats and SA/CA Cichlids...

I know the Jags can get busy, just rooting and digging can seem violent.
Feeding is lightning fast especially with meal worms and crickets.
They are small yet at 5 and 6". I can just imagine them at 12"+
When all is said and done, they bed down alongside each other and chill...

That male does look nice at 6"...I love the way the jags with that prevalent pattern look. Especially when they darken up. As far as the peace thing goes I know what your saying....my male is always trying to kill any jag reflections he sees his or his girls....and they do get pretty rough with each other from time to time. There has been a few times I thought I might have to separate them but he calms down after a minute or two...but they nudge and nip often.

I honestly thought they were larger. With markings already like that at 6", the male will will be a stunner as an adult. They will only get better and better with age.
That's exactly what I thought when I seen them.
Of all places to find them, was at my LFS in a tank all by themselves and they were just brought in.
Already they know what feeding times are and who brings the chow. At first they would run for cover and hide till I got some way away. But now I just enter the room and they are ready to grub down...
Since they are good eaters I could probably feed them anything,
right now they are eating freeze dried shrimp, meal worms and Hikari Cichlid GOLD, large pellet...
What do you feed your Jags and how often...

And that purple hue that shines just adds to that!
Thanks!

Hikari gold and massivore would make up around 70-80% of the diet. Meal worms, earth worms, raw prawns/shrimp and f/w fish fillets make up the rest. I'll probably stir up a hornets nest here but I also feed what ever house geckos I can catch. We have them here in plague proportions at times plus they are an invasive.

I figure to get them to grow at a steady rate is better than to blow them up really fast. Hikari gold will be their staple, and when they get bigger I'll try the Massiviore delight...
I tried tilapia bits, one each to see if they'll eat it, but they seem to shy away from them, however they are gone in the morning. Like 1/4" cubes...

Medium Meal worms are already like candy. They can devour 10 each easily. I probably can/should get them the large ones and feed them fewer.

I wish I could get a pic of their mouths fully extended when they pluck live crickets from the surface...Their mouth is as long as the Datinoids I used to have. And it sure does open wide too!...

Nothing wrong with controlling an invasive gecko, especially if they are in that kind of numbers...better off in the food chain than having to spray poison to get rid of them.

super nice! Hopefully you will be selling jags along with scrubbies soon!!!
LoL...
or a bonus...
"50 Jag fry with every purchase"

From everything I've read up on the subject 500-1000 eggs per spawn...

The pics I seen, the Mom and Dad with spawn looked like they were in a cloud there were so many...

My two beautiful Jags are making me a Grand-Pa...alot!!
At 8:15 PM tonight She decided it was time to Spawn!
They were acting odd all day, rearranging the decor just being spooky.
They haven't really eaten much the last 3 days, but I noticed her belly wasn't going down...
I saw her tube extended about 6 PM and they were doing the wiggle in the 8" clay pot...
They had removed all the rocks that were in there and then spawn they did...
Massive amounts too many to even get a guesstimate on...

I am recording all the water parameters, and taking notes on their behavior...
here is a pic I snuck in, don't want to bother them too much...
