Congratulations!
Tankz Bro,
She's really pumpin' them out now. She'll go in the pot and do her thing, then he gets in there and does his...they are taking about 30 second turns on the spawn...
I'm wondering how long she'll take to empty out her belly...right now there has got to be a couple thousand eggs, like 18-20 sq inches, wall to wall, 1 egg deep or so... :headbang2 :D :D :D

Throw in some dither fish for them to knock around. They need something to take there aggression out on. It's better than each other and it will strengthen there bond.

Yeah,
I have read about that.
I thought it was to initiate the spawn, something for the male to beat up on to show his worthyness...you think now that they have spawned it is a good idea to add anything to the tank?
What would make a good dither fish that won't harm the spawn, IYO?

Personally, I am not a fan of dither fish. Smaller fish usually just end up as expensive feeders. Anything larger, just gets beat up for no reason. I would just keep a divider handy and make sure there are plenty of tight spots throughout the tank that she can seek refuge.

There are many places for her to hide from him and me (my camera)!

I figure nature knows best, and they are doing what comes natural.
So the conditions of the tank and the layout and filtration as far as current and parameters go, must be suitable for a spawn...
The only change I made was to put a foam cover on the intake to the canister.

There is an airstone in the corner of the tank behind the Clay pot creating lift and it looks to be drawing water flow onto the eggs. They are still taking turns hanging out with the eggs and fanning them with their pectoral fins

I also covered the tank with Green towels leaving one end open to natural sunlight...

They seem to know right what to do, so let's hope these eggs hatch and they take good care of the fry...:D :D :D

Congrats and GL! Hope everything turns out well for ya! :headbang2

Btw, uhh think it was the plants used in the setup?... that helped?!! :D :D ;) jk!

Had to be those lucky plants Bro...they were in your tank when you had the Datinoid spawn....

Well, as normal I looked in on the new parents this AM as I had to get up to use the bathroom, and the eggs were all GONE!!...:cry::cry:

Upon closer inspection the are now WIGGLERS!!! WooooooooHoooOoo!
wigglers in 3 days!...:headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2

That store credit will come in handy for some Hikari "1st bites"

...did ya have dreams about that 2 fisted fish wrangler

Wont be long until you have a cloud of mini mannies swimming now.

Everything I have read on the subject, says 5 days to wigglers...must be the higher temps (83-84f) or possibly the fact they get covered privicy and only the end of the tank open to daylight and no foot traffic?

I see where they get the name "wigglers"...spots with eyes and darting about...

Mom and Dad seem even more attentive. They are both right in the middle of the bunch of them...seems they are more "on guard" at this stage...
