How did you cut the holes in the clay pot? And congrats on the spawn, I hope my jags will breed some day.

I used my Diamond edged Hole saw and Lithium Ion Ryobi cordless...and alot of water...they work great for caves, that is an 8" clay pot with 2.75" holes...
as far as the spawn,
I really didn't have much to do with it...just made the water correct and set the temp @ 82f with a 250watt heater (for stability) and within a week of having them home, BAM!! 1,000's of Jags

I noticed last night at lights out, the panic like actions Mom and Dad had, trying to round up the brood...
This is what they were doing today...Fry anywhere and everywhere!!

Funny you should mention color on the male...
He hasn't showed his bars/spots for a few days now.
Ever since he did the Daddy thing with his girl, he has been vibrant and showing the full Jag pattern, gill plate to tail, clear until this AM when the entire brood went free swimming. It's like they are really on guard, blasting at everything and anything. Must be stressful to look after that many babies...His colors look washed out and he is much lighter than normal, showing his bars/spots like MoM...
They haven't eaten in days, I keep trying, so when I go to net out the uneaten food they both crash the net.
I even tried to reattach the airstone clip, to the side glass...big mistake!!
he got me good on the wrist and made me jump, knocking the top glass and light hood loose...
I wasn't expecting that one for sure...
