Speaking just for myself, I would do nothing until the next time I cleaned the filter. Then I would replace some or all of the ammo chips with bio media, depending on your bio load.

Ammo chips/zeolites have a life span. Once they have reached their capacity, they stop working so in order to reuse them, they have to recharged with salt water solution. So having your ammo chips in the filter indefinitely serves no purpose when the chips itself are no longer capable of absorbing anything. Also a point to note is that after recharging the chips numerous times, they don't function a 100%.
just though i'd bump this thread, was wondering, if the zeolite absorbed their full capacity, won't bacteria be able to get to the ammonia that was absorbed into the zeolite to convert to nitrite/nitrate?? Also how much zzeolite is needed to absorb ammonia?
