even with a heavily planted tank you could only stock very lightly to ensure a perfect mini eco-system. i think these systems are something around the gallons per guppy/neon rule.
The nitrates spiked for the first week then they stabilized at around 20. I personally don't see a problem with nitrates being at a stable level... but i guess it depends on the person.
The filter is set up in my 40 gal i have 4 gold fish 4 corys 2 betta fish 2 glow fish and one angel fish.
