I take amitriptyline for migraines. Anxiety and depression never drove me to take the meds. I have always been the type to try and fix things with positive thinking.
With that said, I started taking a mild antidepressant called amitriptyline to see if it would help with my severely disabling migraines. I had no idea the drug was used as an antidepressant until very recently. After a few nights of taking them, I felt completely different. At first, I felt zombie-like and lost my desire to have sex, but my headaches were gone for the most part.. I also noticed more positive side effects. My digestive system is regular for the first time in years. I did have some issues before taking the medicine with keeping my attention on someone while having a conversation, but that has subsided since I started taking it. I'm still just as analytical as I ever was, but I can focus and tend to things so much better. I am also much more logical when a confrontation arises.
I don't know if meds are for everyone, but this med helped me when I didn't even know it could.
