That's exactly the explanation I was looking for, that is what I thought in my head but wanted it confirmed. I think that there is not much noise from the water overflowing through the weirs into the box, so I will likely leave it where it is for the time being, don't think I have much to worry about in terms of error so I don't feel I need it any lower either. Whatever, I'll work out those kinks as I go. Only thing left for me to decide for this setup is if I want to use sponges in the trickle boxes and sacrifice some mechanical for more bio, or if I want to use filter pads/floss and buff up the mechanical. I feel like I will probably use sponges, got 2 weeks to mull it over. Thanks for all the help.
