55+55+29= 139 gallons and 10.5 feet long

ok, my friend and i are going to connect two 55's and a 29 to make a 10.5' long tank. the plan is to replace the top and bottom rims with a strong wood like oak with cross braces every two feet. leaving the bottom to lay flat on the top of the stand, with a rim that only goes around the outside. with the vertical seems between tanks, there will be lots of silicone, and a wood brace that connects the top and bottom rims.
has anyone ever done something like this, and is there anything that i should know now before i learn the hard way?
we will be starting on saturday and there will be lots of pics :)[/QUOTE
the glass needed to make a 55 is dirt cheap why go thru all that hassle when you can get new panels ,also the connecting seams will ruin everything ,probably fine in a sump situation but not as a show tank grrrrrrrrrr

That finished tank looks really profesonal when it is done it makes this idea look very very worth while in that I could picture having two 1000 gallon cinder block or plywood tanks in a large room. And take a dozen 55 or so and built a water bridge between them. In that buying a group of 55 gallon tanks would be far cheaper then buying a section of clear pvc pipe to link them up.

What are the braces made out of these tanks? Also do you have any plans of adding more 29 or 55 gallon tanks into this system?

no plans yet to add anymore tanks but thats always an option in the future if theres a 16 foot wall that needs to be filled up.
