Try some live black worms if you cant get any more feeders. They work well and are cheaper. I wouldnt go more than a day w/out feeding them. Small cichla need their food. Try some bloodworms/brine at the end of the day when they havent eaten. Since you have so many once a few start attacking the cloud they all should.

The problem is I can't get any more small enough feeders. I keep asking for the smallest and I think they are pretty much up to sizes that won't work. The orinos are only about 2 inches. They get more feeders tomorrow, but I'll try the cloud of bloodworms/brine tonight.

When I said cutting them off from feeders for a few days, I didn't mean without alternative food. I'll definitely TRY to feed them frozen food, up to them if they eat it.

Tonight for feeding I first tried freeze-dried brine shimp/blood worms, and they really didn't have any interest. This was nearing 18 hours since feeders. Several hours later I tried frozen brine shrimp/bloodworms and again there was little interest in the brine shrimp. Bloodworms on the other hand were a hit, they went crazy for them once they figured out they should eat them. So...for now they'll be getting blood worms twice a day, and I'll try to mix in brine shrimp in smaller amounts and perhaps pellets in a few weeks.

For the stand, I put the side diagonal bracing in, and the stand feels like a tank. Two more diagonal braces in the back and it should be set. When I push back hard on the tank I can feel it rock a little, and can even slide some of the styrofoam a bit, but once water goes in I know it will compress the styrofoam enough that I am not worried. The tank is level and if anything the stand top is flatter and better supported than before. I will still fill to several increasing water levels, wait and test to confirm the styrofoam compresses.

Still on track to complete the stand structure by Wednesday and get back to completing the polishing and tank cleaning. Really don't want to hop back in the aquarium until the bracing is complete.

My 500 has similar dimensions 8x2x4T and I designed my filtrations to suck off the bottom so I never have to clean the bottom.of the tank.. I do a water change every week and change filter socks every other week. Its way less to maintain than my smaller tanks every were and I think its because of how I set everything up.. so it will be well worth your time goodluck!

Got home today and saw that the bass had ich but all swimming around. Temperature was already 88, so treated with salt. Two hours later and 3 fish are dead. I've never seen fish deteriorate that fast. The rest look pretty covered and breathing hard, hoping they pull through. They looked fine this morning too. Very rapid progression that surprises me. Tested water parameters, the spike is gone, everything looks good. Going to be a stressful few days waiting.
