should i do no plants at all? i do like planted aquariums but i am unsure of what plants and what size would go well with the tank theme.

I think the tank would look it's best w/o plants. Those plants ruin the "vibe."
Like I said earlier, pick the smaller plants(but they usually require rich gravel). Maybe one batch of baby tears in one corner and some java moss on the dw if you're ok with mixing different plants in from different areas.
I don't think my opinion is getting through to you, so this will be my last post/advice here...
The style of your driftwood and the 3D background is amazing, those plants(which is an eyesore to me) distracts you from the beauty of those pieces and from the fish as well.
Plants are usually an option to cover a plain/boring background. You though, have nothing to hide.

Tank looks great, you'll end up needing to move the sword away from the corner as it will grow rather large. I would do a school of hatchets(top dwellers) and a school of cardinal tetras. You can pepper the botton with some cory cats. For a center piece type fish go with a pair of festivums.

your opinion did get through to me. i understand what you are saying based on your preference, but I decided to stick with what i have.
I think you made that clear when you decided against his advice for the second time. Seemed like he was getting upset you didnt change your set up.
That tank looks great though.I liked it without the plants.. do you guys have white sand over there that dose not affect the Hardness/pH of the tank?
White sand over here drags the hardness up
it's pool filter sand (20 mesh). it does not have any additives that affect water chemistry. it was $17 for 100 pounds.
