New Fish Room - 11.5 X 6.5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm planning to re-do my fish room. After having it up for two+ years I want to pull everything out and start over. Some of the stuff I want to do:
- 2" PVC drain line along the perimeter/floor of the room.
- Water supply along the perimeter/top of the room.
- Sky lights
Are you planning a drain system for your tanks? With a refill water supply? If so, I would love some details? LOL

Prior to ditching my plans to have everything on a centralized sump, I was going to have an auto top off... With everything running on sponges now, there isn't really a need...

As for drains: This is a detached garage so my drain will literally be a pipe through the wall & on the ground.. Simple enough!

As far as filling the tanks after water changes: The overhead reservoir hold approx. 180 gallons. I will fill it once per week for that weeks water change. I don't have a hot water heater in the garage so the hope is during the winter - the water will be warmed by the room + a couple of 300W heaters. There will be a circulation pump & also a chemical spout for baking soda & epsom salt. (my tap water is 6.8 pH & really soft.) There will be a vinyl hose on each end fed via ball valves for refills after water changes & top off's.

I still have to do the reservoir but in no rush because the water is 80 coming out of the tap right now. I really won't need those until late fall-winter. November/December.

It's looking really good bro! If I were going to do such a large project I'd even consider something like a drip system for all the tanks.

IF I were on a well & IF the water parameters were condusive to keeping African's, I would have been all over it. No such luck unfortunately.

Thanks for the compliment...

hurry up and finish the room already! :nilly: im anxious to see it

Hell, you are close enough. Just drive down for the weekend - see the sites & the fish room... ;)

Going as hard as I can go... If the substrate will seed these filters fast enough, I hope to have the fish in next week...
