I knew from the start thier was air in it, especially if you add objects like shells and plastic decorations upside down into the tanks. I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing...but for it's just TV and thats it...it was made to give the viewers the thought of "Oh Know, what will they do"....just to keep viewrs on thier toes and interested to stay tune. Remember it is heavily heavily edited and scripted.....if you have not yet, you should view the link posted by zoodiver from above....Brett even explains its mainly for the non-hobbist....and he even relates it to shows featured on animal planet like river monsters and whale wars.

Just a thought. Regardless of whether it be a church, business (atm) or whatever. Until I am the one who controls the books for said operation I will not tell them how they should do things.

Not to focus on the religion part, but I just tend to think that any organization that acts as a charity, probably shouldn't be spending their funds on an extravagent fish tank. I know if I gave to the Red Cross for disaster relief, and found out they spent the money on a petting zoo, I wouldn't be too pleased. It's one thing if there were a capital campaign dedicated solely to raising for funds for this, but if I were giving money to a cause and found out it was used on something this extravagent, I would think twice about giving my money again.

definitely a good show and to all the picky ones out there that complain about not cycling and them not knowing there stuff im pretty sure they would have a tv show and say they are the largest acrylic tank manufacturer in the world for no reason. they know what they are talking about and take trips to hand pick out the fish for their tanks and i never cycle any of my tanks but i do a ton of water changes when i set them up as to make up for the cycle not starting yet
Looking at the church as a business for a minute, that church raised funds to build the new church with the tank as part of it from the beginning. The people who gave their money to build it knew what it was going for. It wasn't money that was raised to go to something else.
And before anyone asks, yes - I was there. They guy who headed up the filtration for that tank also worked with me to do the touch pool filtration here in Miami.

Im Personally Not impressed with the show. they always use coral inserts, never properly cycle the tank, and half the time they overcrowd the tank, if i was paying someone that much money to build me a tank i personally would expect much ,much more. plus im a freshwater guy and they always do Saltwater
If you watch the show closely, in the scene where they are messing with cross it is bright daylight outside and there is almost no one in the room (you can see it in the reflection a couple of times) yet when they are doing the unveiling the room is packed and it is nearly dark outside. It was made for TV drama, that's all.
If you take the show for what it's worth, a cheesy reality show that also involves aquariums and fish, it's not that bad. At least in my opinion.
I understand that the floating cross fiasco was just for drama, I still think it made them appear like bumbling fools.
The construction of the cross was the part that really disappointed me. Using waferboard for the base is ridiculous - I wonder if the cross is only temporary? This kind of product is full of formaldehyde and antimicrobial agents, definitely not something you should be putting in an aquarium, even for a short time.
