That mega church must have mega bucks. I heard that a player in the NFL donated the money to help pay for the construction, but the ongoing costs of maintaining that tank must be astronomical.

I can't begin to imagine the cost. They employ a full time marine biologist if that give you any clue. As for the show, I really want to like it, but its not that good. I like the tanks they build, but I hate the scripted stuff and their stocking choices. When I saw them stick all the yellow tangs and foxfaces in the phone booth it was the last straw for me. They use mechanical filtration for everything, I haven't seen the first protein skimmer, and when they finally did finally build the living reef I wasn't impressed with it. It's cool to watch the different species at their wholesaler, but the entertainment stops there for me.

As everyone has said people, it's tv. Take the ray example everyone is referencing. I'm sure they knew exactly what was going to happen and were planning on putting the other fish in with them either way. Just makes for better TV when it looks like they screw up, find a solution and finish right at the deadline. You can do anything you want with editing.

I personally really enjoy the show. Is it over the top sometimes? absolutely, but what reality tv show isn't at times.

I promise soon there will be a REAL show about fish tanks and set ups.... but it won't air on Animal Planet.

I completely understand that it is edited for TV and I know its all about ratings. I'm just saying personally it's not for me, but to each his own. I do enjoy seeing some of their custom tanks.

i wonder how much it cost that chick to make that one custom fresh water barrel tank for her fiance. they put some ugly decorations in that tank and was kinda small for those africans. im thinking it costed her 5k+
