PETA: Shark Attack Victims Deserve It - 5

As IEven for people who disagree with PETA on the issue of euthanasia , I would ask this: Do you hate every animal shelter that euthanizes surplus and unwanted companion animals too?. There are young, healthy and unwanted companion animals among them.
People getting upset over this situation need to realize that in these cases, PETA and animal shelters are often doing society's "dirty work". The real blame tends to lie in the hands of those who supply the unwanted animals in the first place, such as puppy mills.

You are rationalizing their position incorrectly. PETA is not a shelter who tries to place the animals first and when that fails they put the animal down due to over population in the shelter. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem is with PETA coming in and killing the animals since they do not feel as though the animals should be a pet or that live in containment is worse the death and thus put them down or release them into the wild where they will die anyway.

Two totally different dynamics at play here so you can not lump them together. While the end result might be the same in the animal being killed the path to that point is very different when a shelter and PETA are involved...

wow has this thread gone crazy, yet interesting. I am just gonna stick to the peta stuff. I have no clue why they kill animals if they are supposed to be animal rights people. I ve heard its because they think that no animal should be in human hands..? As for the article that was posted.... lol not adoptable? The same people which bought all the animals which WERE adoptable from a shelter (I wanna say it was in NC, but dont remember?) and killed them all. Long long ago they also blew up a petshop (I believe it was in Cali). If I remember correctly they also bought free willy and released him back to the wild (which he could not adapt to, duh he is hand fed and was raised in captivity... so he died). With the way they act, I question their "animal rights" and whatever "research" they do on releasing an animal... oh and they would never adopt a dog to help them out. They can't own any animal and that's how they want it.

People who are opposed to keeping animals in captivity tend to want to eliminate all breeding. Such as the VHEMT is doing for people.
Never heard of a pet-shop being blow up by PETA, can you give me some more info on this?. Not sure of the connection between the "Free Willy film and PETA if there is any.
I'm not sure where you got the "never adopt a dog " from. Many people working at PETA have dogs as companion animals. Some of them feel that we should rescue the ones already here with us and continue to promote their extinction. They are against all breeding and feel people should only aquire rescued and re-homed animals. Which I might add does fit in with the idea of VHEMT for companion animals.

PETA was protesting the containment of the whales at Seaworld institutions and wanted them set free like in the movie Free Willy. They apparently attempted to purchase the Seaworld theme parks from Anheiser Bush but not sure if that was more stunt or not as it went no where. They woudl have then set all the animals free apparently even though most were captive bred and thus would most likely not survive in the wild.

PETA is not against pet ownership on the surface but their views on the living conditions and such border on not being able to be kept at times. Case in point I have 2 labs in a town home. They go on walks till they lay down and want to come home. We go to the park constantly so they can run off their energy but I do not have a large yard or a pond for them to swim in so as to appease their natural instincts and desires.

My dogs are rescues so I am with many people there. I grew up outside of Lancaster, PA which is one of the puppy mill capitals though there are being reduced through recent laws. That said I also used to breed Standard Poodles when I was 14-18 as I was also showing them around the country. I also showed Boxers and Rotties so dont take my man card away totally. LOL. There are many respectful breeders out there as well who want nothing more then to continue a great breed line. I just wish the industry was better watched so as to root out those nefarious individuals who pump out litters.

I have yet to meet someone from PETA who has an animal husbandry background or has/believes the correct information/facts.

I HAVE watched PETA try to kill animals, saying they are better off dead than under human care.
That, to me, shows that they don't really care about the animals they are trying to 'save'.

Its obvious you have no clue who you are supporting. YOU need to do research. You are supporting a group against all animal ownership( all), all service animals, all meat, and have people on payroll that are known to fire bomb. This is well known and documented. Peta kills healthy animals soley so people cant have them. You need to remove your blinders and renpunce your ties.

+1 to Zoo and Lepi's

I am not going to sit here and waste my afternoon googling crap on peta, google allows you to find any information you please. I could careless if you want to believe it or not or want to google it. The petshop explosion was in the 90's (which I should have noted it was PETA along with a second organization both were involved). They are not tied to the film free willy, they are tied to the whale and its death. Peta bought the whale (the original free willy) and released him into the wild without doing proper research and he died (not something I would brag about). As for the shelter purchase and killings - it should be on record/documented somewhere and it was all over the news - shouldn't be to hard to find a credible source.

As for them, from what I have read from what PETA has posted on its own website throughout the years they do not support any type of pet ownership/ captive animal at all, ever. I have even had my own personal run in's with peta members more than once, so don't waste your time typing to tell me otherwise. If they own pets then they are a contradiction to themselves.

As for shelters- I support no-kill shelters, All of the dogs I have ever owned are rescues. I do not agree with the killing of an adoptable, healthy pet. On that note I also do not like puppy mills and irresponsible breeders, I agree they are the source of the problem. This does not mean I agree that the animals that got the crap end of the stick should be put down for a humans lack of brain cells.

Oh not to mention the lovely organizations they work with/fund/support... do some research on that too.

Douche nozzle...

the last thing i want to contribute to this thread is everyone should just do a lil research before they speak. paul watson wants you dead and is a terrorists and peta doesn't want you to eat or own pets period and they're also terrorists. before you call us liars, research what you're pretending to support since i doubt most of you support them (give money, attend events, protest etc etc) anyways. you just like the idea of ethical treatment of animals
