I agree with this - only I think the consistency is closer to horrible than perfect... After the breast cancer thread, I started looking at avatars more closely, just to see. There are so many that are a lot worse than anything that was posted in that thread - and nothing is done. I don't want to be a tattle tale - it's the internet and you just have to accept that when you open your web browser you will probably see something that is offensive to you. And I can completely understand some people need to be kept in check - they push the boundaries and some of the stuff is highly inappropriate for these forums - but consistency would be nice, or it does appear that some people "get picked on". And this is coming from a person who has never had any kind of infraction or ban.

chef, i appreciate your input. i really do. and i know kids are very smart. most dont put it to good use tho. and altho your son might know how to do all that you wouldnt let him build his own tank and buy his own fish and do his own water changes. i thnk most kids over 16 could manage most monsters. but the truth is they buy these fish with good intentions but they dont have a stable enough lifestyle to care for monsters long term. but this really isnt what this thread is about. i feel like its getting pulled into a million dif directions.
my point is that this site is getting too strict over its members. if we want to argue let us argue and call each other names and get it over with, i dont think crude behavior is nesesary or should be tolerated, and nudity and sexual content shouldnt be allowed here. but a simple **** off or **** doesnt need to be followed by a slap on the wrist.
i have seen many people that deserved to be banned and alot that didnt. im just saying maybe stop focusing so much on being "family friendly" and focu more on your members as a whole. young and old.

For a start, can we start not allowing threads about:

- Which fish is the meanest
- What size tank an oscar/pacu/RTC, etc. needs
- What fish someone else should like

That would, I believe, cut out about 50% of the pointless posts...

We need the help by members reporting avatars etc when they see them etc.. Please understand we mods all have jobs, families etc and cannot view every post timely, nor is that what we are here for. If it is reported, 99.999% it is actioned quickly. Reported post auto alert moderators so we can focus on it more quickly than finding it randomly. As far as some member being picked on, I would have to say that is on them for putting themselves on the radar always pushing the limits. I don't disagree some members threads and posts are reviewed sooner than others. Once you have a reputation for that type of behavior, that person somewhat becomes a reported post waiting to happen. I hope that makes sense.

All these threads really do is show how pointless the Lounge really is. We would have more time to focus on members if we didn't have to read dumb threads like this every single day. I love keeping fish and especially love talking fish with other people. That is why I come here. The last thing I want to do is get into an argument over he-said she-said stuff. People constantly complain about how tight we are on things, but go absolutely crazy if someone lets them slide on a couple things. Then undoubtedly, they get mad when you have to reel them back in. Inturn, people constantly complain because we are too forgiving. It is a lose-lose situation at times.

With as much as I enjoy the Lounge, I'd vote to see it go. Too much time wasted between everyone when we could be having conversations about keeping fish. You try to provide an area where people can have a little fun and of course, someone has to push that envelope to see how much they can get away with. This is a fish site. If you want adult conversations, post your opinions, rants and rave on Facebook. If I really feel the need to stare at half-naked women, I'll go to one of the many 18+ sites dedicated to just that.

I don't think it is in the best interest of this forum to allow people to denigrate into calling each other names and such.

Speaking from personal experiences I have found that people like to get personal in their attacks on other people without really knowing nothing at all about the person they are getting personal with.

Let me bring a first experience with joining AC the smaller side of the pond.

So I joined the forum and began to share some of who and what I was. At this time I did not even own a digital camera so I had no way of posting pictures. Certain members took umbrage that I was making what they claimed to be outrageous claims and was just another internet troll wannabe. So I solved the issue for them by going out and buying a digital camera and figured out how to post pics and posted up a thread with shall we say more than a few pictures as a way of giving them a big 4 letter pill that starts with S and ends with U. Though I would have really liked to get personal about it

I have myself gotten 1 infraction from telling a younger member whos brother and him dug up their parents yard to do a pond despite their parents saying NO by telling him that I would personally fly down there to fill the hole in for him for free if he would first lay down in it for being so disrespectful of his parents.

I also think that you need to give more credit to teenagers than you do. A lot more of them are more responsible than adults and have much more stable lives than adults because they are not trying to relive their glory days they are living their glory days.

Mods are people, with varying opinions and personalities, so that may explain any inconsistencies you're speaking of. I really don't feel that through time the rules of this site have changed that much. I kind of feel this thread is getting childish, should we ban the op based on his own ideas of trying to impede childish behavior? People will always have different ideas of how things should be done. Suck it up and move on.
