Something I dont understand....Wearing uniforms in public

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Does it realy matter. Maybe they are just proud of who and what they are. They can be deployed at anytime and have their lives put in peril. They may be far away from their familes for long periods of time. When you make that kind of sacrifice wear what ever makes you happy. I've lost a couple of freinds and one family member who were in the military. There is alot more going on in the world than to question that.

They are definitely NOT to be worn in a bar, that is extremely disrespectful of the uniform and those that legitimately wear it. Not to mention punishable under the UCMJ.

Recruiters need to wear their uniforms when they are "working" and you may see soldiers who work at a national guard or reserve armory near by. I know back home i've had to go straight from drill to meet people somewhere, pick up a order or even just stop for dinner/lunch cause i am hungry.

I agree my 3 friends are in the Military (Marines) and they said wearing your Uniform in public is considered trashy and the response following said that those are your clothes for work and you should not wear them in public. They spend the money on the uniforms so dress blues are what they are suppose to wear in public no offense to any service men just stating what my friends said that are in the Marines.

Oh just so you know in the Army it is better to wear ACU's in public rather then dress uniforms (they are for special occasions only)

Easy Thunder... no one is insinuating that they don't deserve respect. It's just a question. One I've wondered about for a long time as well.

Two things: girls and military discount... Just like firefighter who wears uniform off-duty...

i agree with this... no matter what they wear my respect is to them... proud of them in every way...but it is just a question.. and it is a good question since this is one of their own rules.. just a question to ponder.. we love our serviceman and women.. and i personally place them up on a pedestal..and just maybe they were hunters in for a cold one..

I am still in the military (Air Force) and for us our regulations clearly states as posted previously...."Wear of the military uniform in any combination while off duty is only permitted for frequent stops (i.e. grocery store, gas station)". Whenever I get off of work I get out of uniform as soon as possible. Just want to be more comfortable. Not really sure why they would be wearing their uniform other than troops performing recruiters assistance but in that case they should be at the recruiters office working not out at the movie theatre!!

Why? Pretty low of you.

Im surrounded by military bases, my house is literally shaking right now from the AC-130s practicing behind my house at Eglin Air Force Base. I see people in uniforms and flight suits all the time. They are regular people like you and me and after work they have to pick up their kids, get groceries or stop and buy pet food too.

in the last two weeks i've been called low and classless on here, great place. could really care less if they're regular people or not. there's only three reasons to be in uniform at a bar, discounts, hot dogging (look at me attitude) and chicks. i can't be the only one that thinks it because i see people actually DO it

let's face it, they would not get extra attention in a bar (weither it's pissed off men or swooning girls or free cover) without wearing that uni
