Something I dont understand....Wearing uniforms in public

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As far as the war, I'm sure their were scary times, but let's face it, our enemies were a buch of sitting ducks over there.
Tell that to the friends and family of those who were and are still being cut down and blown to bits by these sitting ducks.

it's the reality of war. Look at their casulties vs ours. I bet we have more cases of carpal tunnel syndrome than casulties. If there were no risks wouldn't we all join? Think about those who were drafted and had no choice, besides if I died for my country, I'd feel disgraced if my family cried about it.

True but you could consider quite a few of our military posts as sitting duck type situations....Any of our naval vessels on the sea are good enough examples. We can both come up with examples for either side but there is only one side that I am concerned for the safety of and I don't want to derail and go back and forth with you over your statement. It just jumped out at me when I read your post.

I think its all about being comfy...I can attest to it that Cammies are hella comfy. Also they could be proud of wearing their cammies too.

My GF is Dental Hygenist and she wears her scrubs at home and shopping because they are very very comfy. Even at her other job.

All in all it doesnt matter what people wear...Id rather see the WHOLE world wear cammies than for everyone to wear their pants down to their knees. Or even a cap sideways.

Dumbest fad ever,I see idiots parading around all the time with their pants hanging below their brains...oops.I mean butts.

Let's keep the political war discussion out of this. Let's stay on topic.

I'll first start by saying I AM NOT bashing the military, its service men and women, or anyone reading this. " 6 or 7 OUT OF LINE posts?? Even if it is to pick up the ladies, they've earned that right??" What are you talking about? In MY experience, everyone who's joined has joined as a last resort. They didn't have anything going for themselves and couldn't get anything going so they enlisted, happily being told what to do every second of their life, but hey they got training, education, saw the world, became a man, blah, blah, blah. IMO these are the same guys wearing their uniforms to the bar, it's just now they don't have anything goin on with the ladies, which is fine, but you're just a hop, skip, and jump away from rubbing people the wrong way, and when that happens, who are these guys representing? US! I wouldn't want that. If you're sincere about serving your country, you don't do it for praise or perks. If you think you'e going to command respect from me or worse be stupid or cocky about it, you have another thing coming. What I'm saying is they signed up for this, and got what they wanted out of it. As far as the war, I'm sure their were scary times, but let's face it, our enemies were a buch of sitting ducks over there.

and you know this from how many trips into a war zone? since you claim experience here........

Maybe a lot of folks do join the military because they have nothing else and perhaps it is a "last resort", but they do it and they do it for ALL of us. In my mind, if someone signs up to get shot at so the rest of us can sit at home in the comfort of a house that a lot of us can't afford in the first place, maybe we should cut them some slack. Yes they represent us when they wear a uniform to a bar and probably shouldn't, but they also represent us when they leave for a 14 month tour without seeing their families or homes at all. Yes, they do volunteer and no one forces them to do so, but thank God that they do so most of us don't have to. I'm not military, but I have been there and seen it first hand and i can honestly say it is scary as hell, and I spent less than a month total in a war zone.. If they want to wear a uniform to pick up the ladies in my eyes "they've earned that right". That's the least of my worries......

marines arent allowed to wear their combat uniform in public, they have formal suits. when i join the armed forces ill wear my uniform all the time just to display what ive earned. god bless our men in uniform and god bless america.

Thank you, that's excatly what I am saying, if they are proud and are wearing their uniform in Reg's then good for them. They shold be proud. But if you never served then you will never know the feeling. As for Marines, I am sure there are Marines that wear their uniform off duty for whatever reason, and for good reason, becasue they usually get the most respect fro what they are known for, and good on them...
