RD grow out update, 4 inches and head is starting to pop.

The tear doesn't come out as nice in the photos. It's one of the things that really caught my eye with this one. Under his other eye the tear almost looks like a drip and both have nice blue shining under the black too. This was an ok photo, but the color still looks washed out a bit compared to what he looks like. The pearls are bluer, and the red brighter. Overall still an fairly accurate photo.

Cleaned out this guy's tank so he threw up his bars and faded a little before I took these photos but you can really see the trailers on his fins now and the tear on the other side. Head looks about the same.

Hes got kind of a longer looking body but he looks evil. Cant wait to see what he turns out looking like.

I think he needs some chingmix if already dont feed it to him. I see he is quite red and could grow a lot more red which would be awesome. Chingmix really brings out color, but kok not so much. Thats a cool little RD you got there.

I have been debating on food, for now he's on NLS with some snacks every couple days, at least I know it's a good food and I had to pick it up in Dallas when I was there a few weeks ago. I can't afford to ship in food right now, and I don't know anywhere local carrying it.

He's been eating 4-5 pellets morning and night and 2-3 midday. I tried giving him a krill flake for a treat and he had no idea what to do with it so I guess it's gotta be pellets.

Yea chingmix is freakin expensive. My fish do not like NLS period. I got a bottle of it just sitting around. Just can't get them to eat it. I plan to try kensfish premium pellets sometime because you can buy it in bulk. Keep us updated on this little guy.

I will, I finally got his lightbulb replaced today so there's no more yellow tint in the tank. I had a new bulb and it think it was sitting in the warehouse for awhile, supposed to be 6500k but looked like 3000k at most. It's one reason the photos of him look different than the ones of the kamfamalau(?) and they have the same tank setup and gravel too. I'll try to get some new pics this next week or so.

Here's the link to the possible kamfamalau or whatever it is - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?451644-Kamfa-What-is-this-one

It's a decent looking fish. As far as the "long looking body" and the comment about it not being a short body, that isn't the point. Flowerhorn with elongated looking bodies are considered a markdown on the quality of the fish. When I first saw the pic I noticed that, and one other thing right off the bat: From the looks of it now, he may grow up with a weak tail with little to no wrap on it. Some people are a bit anal when it comes to having a strong tail and tail wrap, others could care less.

Your best bet may be to try to bring out this guy's color, I think it's his best quality.
