jd and con problem :(

i have the opposite problem my convict keeps producing eggs when courting my jd male and you could add some melafix for stress relief and fin protection

thanks could i use aquarium salt instead? 55 gallon meds get expensive :/ love your avatar.. pretty

never really tryed that might have to ask someone else im still new at hobby but i think it would only help freshwater fish boost immunity cuz they dont want salt so only the slimcoat would really either be damaged or could be put into creating more of it probably more stressful on the fish cuz there not used to salt in water

yeah idk.. ill give it some time before i go messin with the water :/ no super damage and they seemed to do it at the store so im prolly trippin for nothin thanks btw

wow did u freak? i would have lmao.. the con is hard of seeing and the dempsey is more bothered by the con so i think (for now) they r safe um one question tho, if they r nipping at each other should i be worried about their fins? or are they used to it lol

Nah, they were there as dithers. That's always a gamble when putting them in with cichlids.

Salt will work, but make sure it won't bother your tetras. I have had 4 that it didn't, but some species are different when it comes to salinity in the water. Some can or can't tolerate it.

well i thought long and hard about it and im just gonna see if they tolerate the pecking first rather than bother them with salt.. ill add it slowly if they show signs of any bad fin problems

I had 2 female convict siblings lay and guard eggs. I have 4 female Convict x Cutteri that lay eggs and guard them. They're by far some of the most interesting fish I have in the tank. Tough, hyper and confused lol

tough is right lmao.. im all convicted out.. went thru the breeding process with a pair and i have had enough lmao..now im just going to focus on keeping one

thats how mine was i have a male convict and a jack dempsey at first the convict ruled the tank but now my jack dempsey scares the crap out of it i have no idea when she got so strong but YOU GO GIRL! lol now none of them really harm the other the just have a stare down and the convict backs off -.-
