I totally agree that its only too many if you cant properly take care of them. People just think im crazy for trying to get all the critters i want. People who dont have the same love of animals keep saying 'just have a baby'..uh pretty sure id rather get a reptile..or a fish..or a 5th dog..or another tarantula..mostly anything thats not a baby lol

As I tell people when they tell me one day I'll want a baby, I already have a house full of things that scream, cry, **** everywhere, and make messes. And you know what? If they piss me off, I can put them in a kennel or back in their cage!

I live with 8 cats, 2 dogs, 10 aquariums, a spare bedroom full of feeder mice, 4 Brazilian Rainbow Boas, 7 ball pythons, 2 milk snakes, 2 hognose snakes, 10 Kenyan sand boas, 1 blue tongue skink, and a backyard full of turtles and tortoises. Oh, and one fat hamster a neighbor kid got tired of, so now a hamster the size of a grown man's fist chills with us too.

I have:
14 gallon fish tank
46 gallon fish tank
2 dogs
1 hamster
3 leopard geckos

If one replaces people with animals or has more animals than friends . . . It could be considered anti-social. No offense, it's just my opinion, and I'm not necessarily referring to the OP's situation.

That's me and no offense taken. :)

I think a person has too many animals not only when they can't adequately care for them, but just as importantly, when the person's well being is at stake. I recently downsized my number of animals because I was starting to stress out about them a lot. This past summer, I took on a handful of animals in a short span of time, not really stopping to think about whether I *needed* that animal or was just bored and wanting to refresh my hobby. Pretty soon, I started having dreams where I was entrusted with an animal collection and totally forgot to take care of them. And even though my animals were and will always be treated like royalty, I found daily maintenance to be tiring and stressful rather than rewarding. So I made the tough decision to downsize. I'm at just the right number right now and am very happy with the animals I have: 2 dogs, 1 musk turtle, 1 bearded dragon, 1 leopard gecko, and 1 crested gecko. And I'm saying *no* to any more. :)

Haha I know what you mean, I have
5 turtles
2 dogs
1 cat
36 rats and mice (pets)
2 fish tanks (breed for food)
1 crocodile
1 snake

People call me crazy all the time but I love all of them and I love taking care of them :D Makes for an interesting house hold at least

lol i agree its only too much when either their care or yours is compromised, i love reading yalls big zoo list, everyone already calls my house a zoo and i only have a dog, rabbit and 2 fish tanks (one being a 5ft 120g which apparently to non-pet people is HUGE lol) ....so far :) actually thinking about taking down my fish tanks though and switching back to reptiles, i have been wanting to get back into reptiles for a very long time now

No photos.... show and tell please hehe.
