Just wait until he goes and buys an actual Asian "dragon fish," then you definitely will need to find a new restaurant to eat at...
Well if he under stocks his tank by a lot. if he gets a stock that can fit in a 25 gallon tank it might be OKAY with over filtration.meh he cant even bother to change the water so anything he gets will just die.

So you believe water changes are not needed as long as you understock and over filter?[/QUOTEi am talking 10 times over filtration. i also said OKAY. I would never do that.
I do not believe that!!!! i said it was better to do that than putting 4 arowanas in a 55 gallon tank with average filtration!!!!So you believe water changes are not needed as long as you understock and over filter?![]()
Oh I fought this beacause my sisters tooter has a 44 gallon tank with live plants and a low stock and has almost never cleaned it in years. i meat stuff like guppies and mollies. Not cichlids.Over filtration only converts ammonia and nitrites to nitrates quicker/more effectively. Water changes are needed to remove the nitrates, unless you have plants or something that naturally removes them.

Filtration only goes so far. It removes the waste from the main tank but not totally from the system.
