Well if he under stocks his tank by a lot. if he gets a stock that can fit in a 25 gallon tank it might be OKAY with over filtration.

So you believe water changes are not needed as long as you understock and over filter? :duh:

Why blame him? The guy at the pet store told him to do that. I would blame the pet store guy. The guy in a "fancy uniform" looks more nolagable. It is partly his fault. but the pet store guy should take like 80% of the blame. They can really trick you big time. Same thing happened to me. just not as serious. the petsmart person said that Oscars thrive in 55 gallon tanks. There completely wrong info tag on the pacu tank said that they needed 75 gallon tanks. i was lucky that I got a 75 gallon tank later in the hobby. if i was a beginner i would get one. This is a good example of cruel people earning money for an animals life!!!! It discusses me!!!!

I do not believe that!!!! i said it was better to do that than putting 4 arowanas in a 55 gallon tank with average filtration!!!!

Over filtration only converts ammonia and nitrites to nitrates quicker/more effectively. Water changes are needed to remove the nitrates, unless you have plants or something that naturally removes them.
Oh I fought this beacause my sisters tooter has a 44 gallon tank with live plants and a low stock and has almost never cleaned it in years. i meat stuff like guppies and mollies. Not cichlids.

I did not recommend it. i said it was better than never cleaning a tank!!!! i would never do this.
