4 arowana in 55 gallon tank, lifespan?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do not believe that!!!! i said it was better to do that than putting 4 arowanas in a 55 gallon tank with average filtration!!!!

No you did not. You commented on a quote regarding the fact that the owner of the tank does not do any water changes. Maybe pay better attention to what you are commenting and quoting on, this will aid in you not looking foolish.

more reasons for people to call oscaroo a troll. I love the part about the fancy uniform crap and how they look knowledgable. Petsmart workers know whats written on the fish card and thats about it.

Yep,The card for the Oscar tank size used to be 40 gallons. They recently changed to 55 gallons. But it is still not enouf tough. The petco people are a other story. The person there allowed me to get an overstocked tank. He said that i could get about 7 semi-aggressive fish for my 10 gallon tank. I had 2 three spot gouramis. 1 dwarf gourami. 1 clown loach, and some barbs. and a paradise fish, The fish died all the time. I evenchuly stuck a common pleco in there. The barbs are in a different tank and they are the only thing that survived in the tank. The common plecos growth was stunted so he looked weird. I gave the common pleco away a long time ago.

It really got kinda far off topic. Bottom line you could try to explain to the guy about genral maintenance but he just don't get it. threw store told him that his ph was bad so the gave him the 7.0 stuff so he adds it the unplugged the filter for a week. He is really just a lost cause.

General rule for getting ANY new animal, be it fish, Snake, Frog, bird, Ferret, puppy, whatever it may be, from a pet store: never, EVER, leave ANY question unanswered when you leave your house to get the animal. Never, EVER, rely on the store employees. Even if it's a good store with knowledgeable employees. I told this to a visitor while I was at work on saturday, we're not supposed to give advice on exotics pets (for some reason) but you should be able to write a book on an animal before you own it.
Of course this is an ideal situation, and everyone deviates from it at one point or another. But the bottom line is, dont ever leave any questions unanswered with the intentions of finding out the answer from a pet store employee.

I agreed you should research any animal you plan to buy. But trying to get someone who thinks they know every thing and dose not care about the animal is hardly going to read about it.

Every time I gave him advice I would get a smile and nod and " I will do that" then come back into a week and nothing has changed.

Apart from taking care of it my self ( witch I have concidered doing if he would pay me) I dont have the time.
