There is no shame in that! LOL I mean you fabricated something that works for the same purpose. Just spend the money on fish. ;)

Fantastic looking build! Your design is so close to the stand I am planning to build it's scary. I have lumber. I have drawing in SketchUp. I have a shiny new Kreg jig. Now all I need is time.

I am very anxious to see how your skinning goes. Especially your door/access plans. Doors are my biggest worry. I don't want to spend all my rare time building a nice stand, only to finish it with crooked doors. Is this part of your reasoning for the "snap in" type of door design?

Keep up the good work. And, keep the pics coming!!

That is my EXACT reason for using the removable panels rather than the doors. The last stand I built looked amazing....until I tried to hang doors on it. LOL. Cabinetry is not my forte.

I got the holes cut in the top for the drain lines today. I also fitted the foam boards for under the tank/sump.

All I need now is to find/fabricate a lid for my sump....

Well I tried your jig and it did not work for me, was difficult to hold and screw and keep it straight. What I ended up doing is using it to just mark a starting point then removed it and used a drill bit collar to set the depth. I'm definitely going to use a Kreg Jig next time lol

Sorry it didn't work for you! That's the reason I had the nail in it though. When it was in the right spot I would nail it in place, then I didn't have to worry about it moving.

I've been pushing Kreg Jigs for a while. I use them on just about everything I build out of wood. Of course, my dad is a cabinet maker, so he taught me a couple things.

Even with the nail, it still moved. On a more positive note, the glue that I used was uber strong, so now that the top and bottom frame is hosed, I can't take it apart to start over lol I just slapped some 3/4 on top and 1/2 on bottom of each box. For the legs I was thinking of just gluing it with no screws or dowels. This glue was recommended to me and it's right up there with liquid nails, very strong.
