Maybe it's just me but in general I don't just follow a law because it exists. I follow it if it doesn't infringe on my personal liberties and I live in a responsible manner which doesn't infringe on others' liberties either. I get involved with politics as much as I can to make an impact towards changing unfair laws, but there's only so much a single person can do against the leviathan government that we've grown. At some point, a little civil disobedience is in order.

The only "personal liberties" you have are those granted to you by law and they can be revoked. Unfair to who ? The government's job is to regulate, not make it fair for you. Some think there's like one government person pulling all the switches and they are an evil tyrant. There are are many behind the decision making process and law is no place for personal feelings. What's good for you personally is insignificant. By law you have to follow, even if it infringes on your so called "perceived personal liberties".

leviathan government vs leviathan people = both equally corrupt and evil.

hate how freshwater stingrays are prohibited. Its not like they could survive in lake mead or ANY part of northern Nevada. Gets way too cold in the winter, water at mead drops under 40F for a few months. I could see them thriving in the summer/fall, but winter will kill them.

Actually, rays could do quite well in warm waters in Nevada. NV has more hot springs than any other state (312). Rays could live comfortably year round by position themselves around these hot springs to maintain their preferred temps. There are also cooling water outflows from plants that provide miles of warmer water in the rivers they have water rights to.

Just keep that blindfold on. Some people believe freedom isn't given. I call poeple like you sheeple.

Sheeple hahahahaha.

It's a shame that this sort of thinking is so common. Understand that I value everyone's right to personal liberty and don't believe that it is insignificant at all. I don't "have" to follow any law and I don't feel compelled to simply because it exists. You are entitled to your opinion, but your position is that of a blind dog, accepting whatever slop is fed to you by your masters. As long as you feel comfortable, right?

i think we get a very biased view of the this law. "we" (as in people on this forum) are not regular people. we dont release fish into the lakes and rivers.
however, i know lots of "regular" people here in Ukraine and in US who do that and think that there is nothing wrong with it. i think the law is meant to protect environment from them

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's sometimes is hard to understand some of these laws because we as a whole are more ethical about how we own our fish. There are exceptions of course, but compared to Joe Bob down the street that buys a cute little aro and puts it in a 20 gallon because it's a huge tank - well, those are the people that the laws were made for. It's too bad they didn't think of an exceptions law, like a yearly permit requiring your livestock info and maybe even a microchip for every fish so it's trakable back to the owner if released. Of course this would lead to other issues, like you could only buy or sell to people with permits and every transaction would have to be recorded. There's too many govenment issues right now to add more to it, easier at this point to ban them outright whether we like it or not.

Good point, totally forgot about those awful Naegleria fowleri infested springs.
