That how they eat and I think that's why you like them, or at least that's why I like them :D They don't gulp like Hydrolycus. They chomp with their grill!

Yeah more action with Tigers then Hydrolycus when it come to eating. You cant go wrong with atf if you want a bad ass predator. I switch to gold fish because rosey reds don't fill them up for along time.

You don't have a mess to clean up if you feed them rosies :D

Anh nguyen your food bill must be sky high with all the fishs you have to feed. Btw nice FRT! Im looking real hard for one right now. When was the last yime you seen them for sale by a person or by a LFS. It hard for me to track down a FRT on the east coast. How much are they on the west coast or around your way?

When I first get them in from the wild, I put them in together in a 30" tank, usually about 4". They're easier to get eatting this way. If they are crowded, they seem to accept each other. I spread them out later, if/when I start to see missing scales. My current batch is still together, at least a month.

Agree, I notice they do better as group. I'll keep them together as long as i can. It cool to see them go into feeding frenzy mood.

Our of the four gatf I loss the the smallest one the other day. He got spook and full throttle and got stuck half way in a sheet of egg crate. It was funny I tryd to push him through. I had to pull him free. He loss alot of scales and skin. He wasn't dramatize and ate the same day that happen. He was doing fine for 3-4 day after that and then he just died???? I think maybe cause of death was internal injury. I use e the egg crate as a divider, that was stupid of me. The other three is still kicking strong and growin:)
