Tiger Barb Breeding Project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's amazingly effective.. and quite pretty if you do it right.. I did some reading and have designs on a nearly quiet setup for the house. It will always be loud as long as I keep going for the ebb and flow method rather than constant.. At any rate, I don't mean to hijack the thread on your barb breeding project. Hope it goes well.

hey Rivermud, no highjacking here, all comments and questions welcome with me. I've posted a few times on several of the AP sites, but have not heard much back. Just been learning from reading the thousands of posts here and there.
I am sure you are limited on the fish you can grow in Idaho. I've been looking for some bluegill, not a whole order of 100, but maybe a male and several females to give them a go. I know some of the sunfish are pretty, like the pumpkinseed, and I hear they are good eating!

sunfish make excellent additions to aquaponics. I had the same problem with getting responses to my queries on a few other forums bya being one of them. But, the information there is top notch and if you do enough reading you can find the answer to most questions. You are quite lucky to be in Florida, you have an endless set of options for fish. I have a 100 gallon diy plywood tank that I am using for an indoor system. I do not have a large enough grow area set up for it yet but that will come in time. Currently I am housing a Midevil and a Green Texas.. i have high hopes.

i call it a midevil because in the wild midas and red devils are found together.. they cannot prove that the lines are pure one way or the other.. my fish look more like a red devil but since i cannot prove that it is pure bred i call it a mi-devil.. a cros between a midas and a red devil

I have to disagree with you, their ranges don't overlap.

since4 I am quite poor at explaining things I will let the link do my work for me...http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?439705-A.-cf.-citrinellus-A-potential-case-of-F1-Midevils

I would assume they could.. I have read of mayans and flowerhorns getting it on.

I was just thinking that since you are in florida you should have access to tilapia in the canals and such around you. Better for a aquaponics system and better growth rates.
