I am looking at it subjectively and I understand that getting out of your vehicle and even acting outside the normal boundaries of a neighborhood watchmen have no bearing on the outcome of this case, legally anyhow.

In the state of Florida it is not what lead up to the violence, it is who STARTED the violence. Its this simple, if Zimmerman started the violence he is guilty. If Martin started the violence then Zimmerman is innocent. What is so hard to understand about that? Do you really think that even if Martin sucker punched Zimmerman out of no where because he was following him that Zimmerman has no right to self defense?
 
I really have no say in this, simple fact is, besides Z no one knows exactly what happend. And i'm so tired of hearing about it on facebook and the news, fact is Z should have just drove off after calling the police.

but to your post jd. Fl is a amazing state as far as self defense. If Z got sucker punched or w.e he has the right to defend himself and if shooting was his choice he has that right.
 
I don't need a law to tell me no one should've died that night. Plain and simple. The courts can figure out the rest. Can't wait to see it all play out

Later while talking about Martin, Zimmerman stated "these ---holes, they always get away" and also said "these ----ing punks."

During this time, Martin was on the phone with a friend and described to her what was happening. The witness advised that Martin was scared because he was being followed through the complex by and unknown male and didn't know why. Martin attempted to run home but was followed by Zimmerman who didn't want the person he falsely assumed was going to commit a crime to get away before the police arrived. Zimmerman got out of his vehicle and followed Martin. When the police dispatcher realized Zimmerman was pursuing Martin, he instructed Zimmerman not to do that and that the responding officer would meet him. Zimmerman disregarded the police dispatcher and continued to follow Martin.

Zimmerman confronted Martin and a struggle ensued. Witnesses heard people arguing and what sounded like a struggle. During this time period witnesses heard numerous calls for help and some of these were recorded in 911 calls to police. Trayvon Martin's mother has reviewed the 911 calls and has identified the voice crying for help as Trayvon Martin's voice.

Zimmerman shot Martin in the chest. When police arrived Zimmerman admitted shooting Martin. Officers recovered a gun from a holster inside Zimmerman's waistband. A fired casing that was recovered at the scene was determined to have been fired from the firearm.

Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Bao performed an autopsy and determined that Martin died from the gunshot wound.

Watch this clip. Very interesting regarding this affidavit. The judge may throw this out just based on how there is zero concrete evidence of probable cause.

And that's exactly how Z should have acted. I wonder if he would have ever even set a foot out of his car if he wasn't carrying his gun? Continuing to get out of his car to follow the "man" after being told he shouldn't, doesn't exactly sound like he was being responsible, and trying to avoid problems. And like I said before, legal or not, it just doesn't seem right.

I'm not sure if your trying to justify his actions, or the fact that he's not guilty by law. But as a fellow firearms owner, you should feel disgusted by his actions, legal or not.
 
First of all he was not told to not follow Martin. He was told that the police didnt need him to. There is a difference but, and Im tired of using this word, its irrelevant because the dispatcher has no legal authority over Zimmerman.

Responsibility can be very subjective. I feel responsible to my family so my number one priority is to get home to them so no, I wouldnt have gotten out of my car. Heck, I wouldnt even stop to shoot a man clearly engaged in a heinous act on another human being unless perhaps it was a child. That is how I feel.

Perhaps Zimmerman felt his responsibility was the safety of his neighborhood and that is why he got out of his vehicle because he thought some one was up to no good. Luckily we are not forced by law to decide what to do or not do in this situation.

I am not trying to justify anyones actions. I want people to understand that it all boils down to WHO STARTED THE PHYSICAL ALTERCATION because that is what ultimately decides Zimmermans guilt or innocence. Martins age, the fact he was unarmed, the fact Zimmerman was a Neighborhood Watch Captain, the fact that the dispatcher told Z that they did not need him to pursue do not determine Zimmermans guilt or innocence.

The fact that I own guns and so does Zimmerman is no difference then the fact we both own cars. I do not have enough information to say how I feel about Zimmermans actions. If it comes out that Z was the first one to start the violence then I will be glad to see him sit in prison. If it turns out he has told the truth the entire time and Martin was the one that started the violence then I would be glad to see him set free.
 
Basically what I have gotten out of this whole thing is that he was trying to be a vigilante and it didn't end well. Regardless of who started the conflict, bottom line he should have stayed in the car and left it to the police to handle.
