I know these aren't huge Catfish or Bass, but I do love panfishing while Bass fishing.
Look at these slabs, banked on a 4" Chartreuse Pepper Zoom Mini-Lizard.The Blacks REALLY turn on at night. On my Lightning Rod Shock (GREAT rod for the money) these things give a great fight.I know a lot of you guys eat most catches...I throw them back. Would it be a sin to throw these back around you guy's way, the folk who eat them?

excellent catches, those are beast crappie - not a sin at all. honestly i've just recently started keeping some of the catfish i've been catching because money has been tight, usually i'll only keep fish once or twice a year (freshwater at least).

Today was the polar opposite of yesterday, had a few bites early and landed 3 tiny cats, if you put all three together you MIGHT have totalled a pound and a half on a good day. no bass action to speak of :(

NC - If they are slamming your rods down and you aren't hooking up, try "pound in" rod holders and circle hooks. You may also want to address hook size and bait size. These fish could just be grabbing the end of the bait and taking off and when they feel tension, they drop it. Channels can be like that sometimes.

yeah i do need to use some different poleholders i just use sticks i find on the banks. the weirdest things are circle hooks didnt make a difference when i switched one over

Hey man, that's really good to hear as I usually fish with people that don't know the sizes and I never really get any kind words!I really am going to invest in a scale as I would like to know what these things weigh.I have a really nice Great Canadian Canoe and just bought an all new spinning reel (Pflueger President) and a new baitcaster (Shimano Caenan), and have huge ponds near me with all the normal game fish for my areas PLUS some stocked Tiger Muskie and Northern Pike!! This year I intend on taking things much more seriously and am stoked that there is good legit fish discussion on here...a reason for me to come back!I am also armed with 40 LB, 832 superline, I only bend hooks on snag releases, no lost baits. It's on man!
